Has RCU Website been slow for you in the last week?

Has RCU Website been slow for you in the last week?
I've noticed some slowdown in the site loading speed the past week. I don't know if it is my connection or indicative of something sitewide.
Has anyone else seen a slowdown in page loads, image loads in the last 5 days?

I'm on a dsl and with it tweaked to perfection I'm still getting a noticable amount of delay in the loading of the different pages. Since ya asked.

RE: Has RCU Website been slow for you in the last week?
It has definitely slowed down, at least at times. Sometimes it's the Home page but usually I notice when in the forums and hit the back button from a post to get back to the forum. I'm not sure it's your problem though. When it gets that way I usually do a tracert and find two or three stalls in all the hops from Colorado. I'll start sending them to you if you want.

yes..if you see latency and have a traceroute that reflects which hops are the issue email them to me at support at rcuniverse dot com
as we speak we pulled RCU1 out of rotation and are investigating the firwall, load balancer and servers. I think one of the 3 has got a bit funky on us but I want to be sure this isn't just my isp route.

Yeah, the last week, maybe two sounds right. Definitly slower than before, but not 'killer slow'
I've also noticed that a few times trying to post, that the connection was lost, and the post lost.

Interesting. When I posted the above I got an "error message". All I caught of it was something like, "transport failed to connect to the server". But obviously the post went through, and I was brought back to the proper page. I've seen this once or twice in the past couple of weeks.

I have noticed a dramatic slow down in the last 2 weeks. About 10% of my posts never make it to the site, and some of my pictures from posts made 4 months ago or more, have changed into other pictures.

Marc,
Don't know if this will help or not, but I've gotten that same error message two more times in the last 4 posts.
It says:
CDO Message. 1 error 80040213.
Transport failed to connect to the server.

this error was from the change in our NIC card this morning. our mail server ties to the hardware address of the card and had to be changed in our software license as a result of the card change. with mail not working you would see that CDO message which means it could not connect to the mail server when posting (this is the routine that would sent out email notifies to subscribed threads). This has all be fixed in the last 15 minutes.
Now the question is speed. If anybody is getting broken images, slow loading times, page timeouts and can immediately run a traceroute to www.rcuniverse.com and post it here that would tremendously help us troubleshoot this if it persists. We are monitoring the systems all day today to see if it is still occuring and what other pieces of the puzzle might be causing this.

RE: Has RCU Website been slow for you in the last week?
I wrote not too long ago about my system being slow. The pull-down menus had become active. Once I turned them off, the site has been normal speed.

RE: Has RCU Website been slow for you in the last week?
We enabled the dynamic menus for our navigation about a week or two ago so if you have a slower computer and had them turned off before you may want to make sure they are off to keep things equal. A slower computer will make page loads slower on the site with dynamic menus on. Any 1.5Ghz plus system really should not have problems.
here is a link to the toggle to turn them on/off

Marc,
Every sense I asked if you wanted tracerouts I haven't had a problem and I don't save them, sorry. You didn't let someone let the magic smoke out did you? This seems to have started after the hard drive crash you had 1 1/2 weks ago.
Just ran a T/R anyway and here you go...

RE: Has RCU Website been slow for you in the last week?
By the way, I am subscribed to this thread and never receive an email notice of new posts. Yet some of my other subscriptions send me notices but are a couple weeks old and still working.
Hope this helps.
(edit) as soon as I say this it worked. Maybe it was the network card you changed.

RE: Has RCU Website been slow for you in the last week?
I wish this post would have been on here sooner ! Just got this thing out of the shop again and this is just the place where I hang out . Speed is back up ,but I wish I had the money back . PC was dumped and I had to start all over. I am not going to say what I think about sales and repair.
