RE: Krylon Fusion & Monokote
I put two light coats on sample piece of Coverite a week ago, and today I was planning on putting some 10% on it to see if its fuel proof.
I will post results.

From what I've been lead to beleive, any Krylon paint will not stand up to glow fuel. You must 'fuel proof' it with a coat of clear fuel proof paint.
Just passin' the buck....
(please, do try it, and post the proof!!)

RE: Krylon Fusion & Monokote
Thanks. I'm finishing an electric Twin Otter right now, so fuel proofing is not a worry. I think I have read where someone discovered it is not fuel proof, but there was no mention on what surface the paint was applied to.

RE: Krylon Fusion & Monokote
Well, I tried both 10 and 15 % Powermaster, I had to rub pretty hard but the color did come off on the rag, and the finish dulled. When I just dropped some fuel on and blotted it off it did NOT transfer to the rag. But I am not going to chance it.
Anyone have a suggestion for a fuel proof clear coat?
Thanks

RE: Krylon Fusion & Monokote
I've let 15% Cool Power get on it. A few days later it started to bubble and peel. Be safe and clear coat it a fuel proof clear. I have used PPG or Dupont laquer that you can get at automotive store or 21st Century Clear works over it as well. I got some crazing when using Top Flights clear.
Thing I find when painting covering is when is comes loose and sags, it is very hard to fix it.

This is on a solid surface so it should be okay. I'm going to try an clear acrylic enamel over the Krylon Fusion paint, it seems to adhere really well to the Coverite.

RE: Krylon Fusion & Monokote
I have not tried the new "Fusion" yet, But I had a plane that I had painted regular Krylon on top of Ultracote. The paint adhered very well, but after the first season, it started to get gummy, and sticky, and it would wipe off if you rubbed it hard enough. I removed it, repainted it, and applied a top coat of spray polyurethane. That did the trick.
