Tuned Pipe Exhaust In A Balsa Fuselage
First off I hope this is ok in this forum!!!
I am building a Cermark F16 prop jet. I have a rear exhaust YS61 that I want to use. The tuned pipe fits perfectly inside the fuse. All I need to do is to run an aluminum extension out the tail cone. My question is this...because I dont want anything burning up in the air...do I need to do anything to protect against any type of heat build up inside the fuse?
The pipe will run close to the servo tray and pushrods.
Thanks in advance.
Tom

Enclosed pipe...
I just coated the wood with epoxy..it was holding the pipe in place and the stinger on the pipe was touching the wood. I made heat shields from balsa to shield the radio gear from direct heat...
Oh yeah..if you look real close (sorry for the pic size) you can just make out the air inlet in the "windshield" and air outlets near the rear cone of the pipe...where you see the aluminum pipe.
Hammer 20 with a OS 40 VF and Macs pipe enclosed..pretty bad quality pic, but it's the only one I have uploaded right now.

Tuned Pipe Exhaust In A Balsa Fuselage
i wraped my plane around a MDS38 and a tuned heli pipe, all i did was fuel proof the inside, the film didnt lift, flight time was only 4 mins anyway. the back of the bay was open slightly to the rear bay and the elevator servo and batt got some heat. didnt effect them.
i didnt have any air holes. engines getting hot is bad, pipes, i dont care, they dont seize up.
