I've had the problem of the nose ski sinking in on very fresh light powder using the Dubro skis on a Goldberg Eagle 2. Otherwise never a problem.

I fly off floats in the winter. I have seen taildraggers on skis, and they seem to work well, but trikes just don't seem to. The two times I saw people trying to fly trike skis on snow it didn't work well. The first one had the prop strike the front ski on take off and the other time(different plane) the front ski kept digging in and he couldn't get off the ground. Both of those times I had no problems with my floats. Of course, in my case I also have a pond near by, so the floats are dual purpose.

I've found when you make the front ski big enough to handle the deep fluffy stuff, The angle becomes real critical. This duraplane is usually a tank. But with all the added surfaces of the ski's it actually slows down real nice for landing.
