Default Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow

I just saw Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow on DVD. Really interesting movie. Liked all those airplanes and zeppelins, and those flying air carriers. I wonder if you can make and fly one of those flying air carriers they had in the movie? Sounds really interesting. [8D]

Cstevec:
I was thinking of building a flying ship. I wonder if that could be done? [8D]

Gerryy:
The P-40 was cool. Now trying to make it into a submarine would be tricky.

Ptarmigan,

When you look at all the flying cars, lawnmowers, dog houses and witches and stuff, a flying boat shouldn't be too hard. I'd love to build one similar to the one in the Disney cartoon "Treasure Planet". That would open some eyes at the flying field!

The latest edition of Flight Journal arrived today and they had pictures and descriptions of the planes used in The Aviator. These are really large models. Surprising to me was that the Spruce Goose was an electric.

Making the Spruce Goose electric was a very wise move. Try to get that many glow engines running in sync consistantly, no way. It also had a bailing pump added at the last minute because the seams didn't have time to dry before it flew. It took on a lot of water and the pump got clogged so it actually flew with a belly full of water at one point and the CG changed costantly. Bill Hemple did a heck of a job to bring it down safely after that happened.

Yeah, you're right. A car or lawnmower shouldn't fly, let alone a dog house, well unless you are thinking about Snoopy.
