Default Why buy a Yak?

I see the Yak becoming a very popular plane. What makes it better than say an Edge or an Extra?

It's different. Too many Edges, Caps and Extras!

Just my 2cents.

That's it? Flight characteristics aren't improved?

Crash90,
I put a smiley on my reply but it came out on the top of the posting instead of in the message.

Sorry I don't have a better reply but you didn't say if you were interested in flying it 3D or pattern.

I've seen some as profiles, others as fatty's. You also didn't specify what size.

All of these will have a bearing on your question.

Properly setup any of these planes will fly better than my talents are capable of.

Flight characteristics of a plane is all based on the design not the type of plane only. Look at what happens at TOC. You see even 'older' designs such as Extra 260. But then the planes are so well built and designed. I think the YAK is refreshing, just too many Extras and Edges, that is why I fly a Laser 200.

I think people just like saying ¨YAK¨. It sounds cooler than ¨Extra¨ or ¨CAP¨

Its the only plane I know that is named after a farm animal.

Because Somenzini won the TOC with it, so everyone has to have one.

I will say I LOVE the Composite Arf 35% Yak though. Great flying plane!

Im a yak fan too, I agree the extra's and caps and edges are getting old as there are tons of them, I will say, my CompARF 3.3m Yak flies like nothing else out there.. I love it.
