Money Talks
Why is it that when you go to a open event you are checked out and every one wants to get prof you can fly,
But when it is competition you pay you entry fee and fly no questions asked. Does money make you fly any better or does it just pave the way.

RE: Money Talks
Excuse my ignorance, But I would like to know what your talking about when you state "prof you can fly" ? We don't do/have anything like that here. Anyone that has an AMA card flyes.
How do you produce prof you can fly?

Hmmmm!, every event I've been to, whether a fun fly or a competition, always just asked for a few bucks for a landing fee, my frequencies, AMA card, then gave me a raffle ticket and a ticket for the lunch buffet.

The only time I have had to prove I could fly was when I visted a club field in Seattle. Thats the only time in all the time I have flown that anyone had to "test" me. Never at a fun fly or contest was it ever infered that I needed to be tested.
Thought it was funny when they wanted to check me out in Seattle. Watching the guys, I had more experience than most of them put together.

I've visited one club where I was told that someone had to stand by me for my first flight.
I don't think it's a bad idea to do that when someone new shows up at your field for the first time. I've seen a couple people show up at our field, and when they take off everyone's diving for cover. Turns out they joined the club, got their key and just expected that it was an easy thing to do.
Now, when we have an open fun-fly or scale meet, you just kind of expect that everyone showing up knows what they're doing.
