Default Arting around with airplanes.

Hiya,

Ive just bought a small Speed400 pylon racer, and I get to pick what monocote will get stuck on, but ive got rainbows shooting out my ears because of trying to deside what color to pick.

This is what ive come up with sofar:

Fluorescent green body with fluorescent yellow ailerons and elevators and black tribal on the wings.
(Im not sure how to apply the tribal though.)

What do you guys think?
Can you give some nice suggestions?

Regards,
Sven

those fluorescents are nice but really don't help visibility much...more important to have the top and bottom totally different with a very good contrast at a distance

and you forgot the F at the beginning of "arting"...

I've worked with some of the monokote neons, but Zagnut was right, they really don't help the visibility as much as you might think. The other thing I noticed is that the neon colors seem to fad faster than the "normal" monokote colors.

Hope this helps.

Hmm, Any colorscenes you might suggest? How about switching the green and yellow on the under side? Like green wing and yellow controls on top, and yellow wing and green controls on the bottom side? Or doesnt green and yellow contrast enough?

...and the F may also apply in this thread, im sure.

Im not sure on this one, but isnt blue a bad color to pick, due to flying in blue skies it might blend in tomuch?

The fading colors, are they really that bad? If so, I might considder some other colors, because I dont want my plane to turn turquise in a year or so.

Just a little note on the side: Im sick of yellow, about 80% of the planes I own are yellow, so time for a change.

EDIT:
Heres a video of an "airplane" if you can still call it that, that flies around with the same color, more or less: CLICK (2.7mb.)
Doesnt look all to bad though, but this is just a slow and simple parkflyer.

I just got done with my CG Ultimate which is blue and yellow. I have no issues seeing it in the sky. Yellow stripes are easy to see pretty far away.

Yellow would be second to red in my opinion. Not a big fan of neon on planes.

I like doing something completely different on the bottom rather than reversing the color scheme. It helps to have something that makes the bottom instantly identifiable. Depending on the lighting and your eyes, sometimes the colors all appear gray and black. With the reversed colors scheme the top and bottom would look the same. The graphics on the top will help with this, but I like having some bold contrasts on the bottom.

For what it is worth, orange and yellow are the colors that stand out best for me.

Do a search on "windex" and you will get some hits that have great information on applying graphics using MonoKote.

The neons will not loose all of their color, but depending on how much sun they are exposed to, they do fade.

Is this any better?

Ive been reading up, and people reccomend the bottom to be dark and the top to be bright. So here ya go. Eyetearing neongreen ontop and (Metalic)black on the bottom side. Its not my favorite, but on its stand in my room it looks like how I want it to be, and in the air theres a propper contrast between top and bottom (I think).

How 'bout making stripes of the black on a yellow background?

Are you suggesting something like the picture ive included with this post? I like the looks of it, but what should it look like on the other side?

Yes that's what I'm saying. Put the original neon green and tribal on the top, or the top as shown in post 7.

Looks good,
John

Fair enough, thats gonna be it then. This thing will be a massive eyesore on the field, but thats why im doing the fluor. [>:]

Its a nice n small plane, so ill save it in a dark container to prevent the cote from fading. Hows that sound to you? [8D]

I get the build template with the plane, so ill be making a couple. Maybe even one using the glowcote. That stuff that glows in the dark when being put under a heavy lamp. Would be perty neat to see an eary green plane whoosh by at night.
