How did you come up with the names?
Been on here for a while & I have been wondering, how did everybody come up with their "handles" for RCU? Mine was pretty simple, I would rather be "outdoors" than anything & I will hunt any kind of game that is legal!! Ya know you can guess on some, for instance "Greybeard is either a pirate or he has a grey- beard, Sir Live wire is either a very nervous fella or maybe he's an electrician & so forth.

I am a graphic artist and though a New York native I currently live in Minnesota.
Many of the screen names I wanted in the early internet days were already taken. I eventually hit upon "MinnArtist" which I use all over the internet.
When I joined RCU, I modified it to "MinnFlyer"

RE: How did you come up with the names?
Way back in the early 70's, we built a race car. This period of my life is a little foggy, but somewhere about the same time, a group of us attended a function at the Chase Park Plaza in St. Louis. In one of the bathrooms, they had wall paper with pictrues of a mounted knight carrying a lance in the upright position. Some drunk tore one or the panels off the wall, and we evolved a cartoon caricature of the bathroom wall paper that actually became very attractive through many changes by many people in various stages of inebriation. At last we settled on a final rendition and had a professional artist paint two of them on oval sheets of aluminuim that were about 24" high and 16" wide. We pop riveted these panels to the side of the race car. We all voted on names one night, and the car became known as the "JollyPopper". Along about that same period of time, CB radio was becoming a craze, so I got a bunch of equipment and took the handle "JollyPopper". I gradually became knows as JollyPopper or simply JP. Then when the internet came along, it was very natural to take that name right along with me. So in essence, I have been "JollyPopper" for almost 40 years. Guess I'll just go on being so. Somewhere in the interim, those panels with the mounted knight painted on them were lost, misplaced, or stolen. Wish I had them now.

When I got back into RC after a 15 year layoff my favorite hobby was bass fishing. I was "eat up" with it! So I thought I'd go with bass something or other. I chose Bass1 without really realizing that I also played bass for a living. My bass boat is resting properly in my garage and now serves as a nice platform for my bass (instrument), some planes and field equipment..

Mine came from dove hunting in the late '80's.
I shot a lot of shells but hit very few birds. Friends started claiming I was just warning the dove away.

I am thinking about changing mine. I was/ still am into salt water reef tanks and fish, and I live in Minn(esota) so Minnreefer, but I think some people think I am into smoking the wacky tobacco, if you know what I mean, and no I don't smoke that stuff. I jsut can't think of a good name to change it too.

Story behind mine is a lot more boring. I borrowed it from several of my business accounts with local hardware stores. They use the first 3 letters of my last name, first 3 letters of my first name, followed by last four digits of my home phone number. Just coincidence it came out to be "hugger", has nothing to do with Harley motorcycles or tendencies for affection.

First initial, middle initial, last name. Set it up as my username on a unix system 30 years ago and have been using the same ever since. Although as the internet gets to be more pervasive, I sometimes think I should change it to something more anonymous.

I like naming all my vehicles. scooter, bigbird, clunker, slug. etc.... I named my tractor skeeter an thought it would be a good handle. It seemed just plain skeeter had been taken, although i have never seen it anywhere, so i added an "_ca" since i live in california.

When I started here I was an accountant at a power plant.
So I changed bean counter into KW_Counter.
I also used to be a pit counter - I worked for an olive processor.

While I usually don't put the TX in front of my name, all of names do contain Baphomet in some form...No it is not the satanic symbol of the Horned Goat with Wings pictured in front of a Pentagram...It is actually the name of an early 80's Speed Metal Band...But whats more fun is listening to kiddos trying to pronounce it.....
