Default Endurance

Took these pics yesterday at the field. A buddy of mine is toying with a club endurance record. That is a ST40 on this trainer,it has a 12oz tank in the fuse and a 2 litre coke bottle on top. Also, it has a 4- 600ma packs packed in. I couldnt wait to see if it would fly. It used about 350ft of our 450ft of concrete but did get airborne. He was just doing some preliminary fact finding and landed after a half hour.

How about some input on the planes in the background. Looking good from this angle. Thanks Dave

Thats my big spit and B Stang, we had a few warbirds and a couple turbines out this past Saturday. As you can see ,the grass is just now turning brown, and it was about 55/60 degrees. Its a good sized club with around 130 members. Our Saturdays look like some fly-ins I have been to. Check out the link that boyd63 posted to http://www.nomacnews.com, he runs the website and does a great job.

Default Club Record

Today Boyd63 deceided to go for the club record on endurance flight. It was cloudy/ low overcast with a front coming at about 945am when the flight started. 15 minutes into the flight it started RAINING. He deceided to stay up and go for it. We used a total of about 6 pilots and a mid flight Tx. battery exchange to complete the 2 hour 23 minute ordeal all done in the rain with a dead stick landing.

Default Record

About 2 hours into this flight Fighter pilot thought he had enough of this and brought out the heavy weapons with the plane on a low fuel check fly-by. Yes thats my Spit and Super Decathalon under the plastic. We all did get to fly before and after the rain.

Default Anti aircraft fire

Well, what is a man to do when he comes to the field with his airplane on channel 22, only to find out that Boyd63 is going for a club endurance record and that his plane is on, you guessed it, channel 22. I was very patient. I didn't break out the anti-aircraft fire power until over an hour and a half had passed. I probably would have done better had I shot the pilot.
All in good fun............no guys, we really didn't shoot at his airplane, although it was tempting.

Actually, I like my Beretta Over and under which I've been using to duck hunt with for about the past 3 years. Before that I had an old Remington 1100 which, if you kept clean, was a wonderful automatic.
Good hunting,
Bill

L454S enjoyed your endurance flight post . I did something similar two years ago using an Aerostar trainer with a .45 K & B and a varsane oscillating pump. Just for fun and my own personnal record.

Used a twelve in the nose, 14 in the radio compartment and a twentyfour on top of the wing for a total of fifty oz. The longest endurance flight was two hours and six minutes with just me flying (everybody else got board and left).

The longest XC flight was a trip between Kingman and Seligman AZ along old route sixty six with a distence of 80 miles and flight time of 1 hour 53 minutes for an average ground speed of 42.5 mph. The toughest part of that one was getting through two underpasses and a 2000 foot gain in elevation along the route which forced a takeoff with a leaner than desired needle to keep from going so rich at the destination that it would no longer run.

Default Bored

To make things a little better on a bad day, Boyd 63 brought groceries and Fighterpilot burned a bunch of burgers. Everybody had a good time.
