Default FLYBOY in full scale crash!

I decided I better post this here so more people can see it. FLYBOY, a regular poster here has been in a full-scale crash. Original thread [link=http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_3104329/tm.htm]here.[/link] I'm frequently checking the Missoula area news sources for any information. I'm sure Ed would appreciate our prayers.

Ed had a big part in my introduction into this hobby many years ago, when I bought my first plane kit, engine and radio from him in Missoula when he ran a hobby shop there. His vast knowledge with RC and Full Scale aviation is a pure attribute to RC Universe. I always enjoy reading his posts, as he always is right there trying to help others. We will be thinking of you, best wishes for a speedy recovery, so that you can get back to doing what you love, flying. Godspeed.........

All the best to Flyboy and his passenger!!!!
Sounds like he did a good job to get the aircraft down in a big enough piece to be able to get out before it got hot.

I've got 800 hours in the left seat and only had a couple of eletrical failures while airbourne so never had too much to worry about.

A speedy recovery Gentlemen!!

Brad

Guys, if you don't know, Flyboy is one of the many "good guys" here. I've spoken with him privately as well as on the board and he has never been anything less than above board and always willing to help.

Best wishes go out to him and his family.

Flyboy is not only an asset to RCU as a member but a moderator and we all wish him well and a quick recovery. Here's the latest we have.

Sorry it took so long to get back to you all. He is doing better. He is still in critical condition. But there is alot of improvements day by day. Ed had back surgey and that went great. Ankle and arm surgery. He is on a breathing machine and should be on that for a week. Because he has to clasped lungs and 7 broken ribs. Scott his boss is on the up an up. He is doing really well. He has 3 broken ribs and a broken ankle and arm. He came off the breathing machine and breathing on his own. He can't talk but he is writing everything he needs down. I just want to thank you all for the thoughts and prayers. Ed and Scott have a long road to go. I will try to keep you all posted. I will try to see him everyday. Thank you again and will talk to you guys later

I just recieved a email from his sister. For some reason it is in a bunch of HTML, and tough to decipher, so I will give a condensed version instead of a copy and paste.

She talked about watching Ed's left arm and hand getting the dressing changed. He was apparently burned badly on his left arm and hand. She said the arm is healing with pink skin already, but there is a lot of dead skin on his hand still. The other arm is broken, along with a broken leg. They are inserting a feeding tube through his navel, and that should feed him for the next 6 weeks. They removed the breathing tube from Ed's mouth and put it into his neck, hoping his lips and face will heal faster.

It sounds as if they are hoping to wake him up in a week or so and start weening him off the machines and drugs. Ed's sister says when he is all healed up she is "going to kick his butt". LOL. It's good to see some humor in the letter, as that MUST mean they are very hopeful of his recovery.

While Ed's passenger, Scott (Ed's boss) wasn't hurt as badly as Ed, he is still having a tough time. They moved his breathing tube to the neck also, and he fought it. What followed was a night of night mares. Sounds like it was a rough night.

Obviously, Ed & Scott have a tough row to hoe. I'm sure our prayers would be appreciated now, and for the next weeks and months while they continue to heal and recupirate. I've just kind of added them to my daily prayer list, and will keep them there until Ed is healed up enough for his sister to kick his butt.

I'll post more when I hear more.

For those of you without Paypal, I PM'd RCU Member "rcflyby" and he gave me his address where we can send cards or anything else. He said he sees Ed almost everyday and will be happy to bring to the hospital anything sent to Ed.

I did not ask permission to post his address, so contact him directly if you want to go this route.
