Bonnie is doing great. We are getting ready for Top Gun where I plan to fly a big F-84 called BABYDOLL.

Hello Riddle and Thunderbolt....
Riddle, very good comments. You might be interested to know that I fell across a thread where guys are heavily modifying ARF's with some pretty good ingenuity - not just for cosmetics. I'll see if I can fall across that again. If some folks are reluctant to build from plans or a kit, this is, at least, something that would inspire some of the experimentation that you allude to - for the record, I am in complete agreement.
Brian, here's one for us... it wasn't a cover, it was for a plan called the Silent Squire. I think it's a new one...
Please say HI to Bonnie for me,
Bob

Yes I got a new canopy from the Netherlands and it is installed ready to go. I have to decide if I want to fly the F-84, the ME262 or the F-86 in German markings at Top Gun. Have to let Frank know this week

RE: Has RCM folded?
Could this have been a cover for RCM in the day?
It is my F-84 in Dutch Airshow Markings. The Dutch borrowed four planes in the summer of 1958 from the USAF for air shows in the US. This one had BABYDOLL on it as it was on the CO's plane and he allowed the Dutch to borrow it if the artwork was left on the plane. THey only used the planes for a couple of weeks.

RE: Has RCM folded?
Brian,
If you want my opinion I would say the F-84 and the 262!!! While the F-86 in German markings was a nice looking plane, the other 2 were my favorites!!! Mostly because those two aren't modeled very often and it's nice to see new things!!! Even though the F-86 has German markings on it I know there are at least a couple other F-86's entering in Top Gun.

If I had had "buckage", particularly after a Jet show in Orlando, I would choose the F-86. Just my fav. I like the whole "Century series" though. F 100 on down (so to speak). Good luck with any of that. - Eric Go Colorado! Just while I am at it?

RE: Has RCM folded?
I was an original subscriber to RCM and have the first year intact. A collectors piece?
Will try to find time to post a picture if no one else comes up with one. ( I also have to work out how to do that)

Manxtt, you will find a very willing and attentive audience here.
I've been looking around for Volume 1, Issue 1 for years... I would love to see you post anything that you can on it - I think that we would be very interested in what Don Dewey had to say about introducing this 'new' magazine dedicated solely to RC (people thought he was crazy for doing this).
We'll all be glad to help you in any way that we can.. Thanks for dropping by.

RE: Has RCM folded?
Just to say I am getting my final shipment of RCM's. It has taken maybe over a year. The owner of the collection died just a couple months ago. I am proud to own a collection that spans the gamit: I have many boxes....and so don't know if I have number one per se. Don't care. I think I have almost all of them!
My impetus is not collector value....it is the shear value of the content. Best regards to all, Eric

RE: Has RCM folded?
Thanks Bob. I payed $100 for the collection! The shipping has exceeded that by far. Also, just having to figure out where to put the boxes is a question. I am sad to realize I will never be able to read all of them in my lifetime! I can say I have the resource and "library" to pull out issues as need be....and associated with plans I may like...so on and so forth. I really could care less about any collector value, but I would not sell the collection myself for any less than a grand. The fellow that sold it to me was the son. He wanted to sell it to someone who cared about keeping the collection. That was ME!

RE: Has RCM folded?
That's still a nice score. And, I still have magazines in my collection which haven't been read yet... but I always find a reference to something somewhere that sends me running to my stash to look it up.. then I wind up re-reading the entire magazine and THAT magazine will reference another issue, etc. etc, I'm sure that you'll find yourself in the same pickle (as nice as it is).

Manxtt, thank you very much!!!
I was a Sophmore in High School when that came out... Did you see the price? 40 cents?
And, Yes Brian, I agree... he wrote a really good Editorial.
Thanks again!!

RE: Has RCM folded?
Thanks Manxtt! Nice opening editorial from Don the don. I have yet to explore my bought collectiion of RCM's in a large way. It is a stack of boxes that would be 10 feet tall! Yet I don't think the first year is in there..so neat to read that. Eric

RE: Has RCM folded?
I am a recent reader of this Forum. Has there been any suggestions to make a digital backup of RCM.
If enough people did 1 or 2 issues it would not be too large a task. There would perhaps be no need to do those
pages that only contain advertising.

Speaking of copying. If RCM is defunct can you copy the articles and post them or does someone unknown have the rights to RCM like the plans service or do the original authors have copy right on their work?

RE: Has RCM folded?
I've never heard whether anyone has the rights to old RCM issues or not.
Once in a while, I will quote from one of the RCM articles in my Club newsletter; say, something that Don Lowe or Jim Oddino wrote, for example. When I do, I always credit the publication. I give the magazine (RCM), the issue date (month/year) and the column/piece that it came from.
That's the only fair thing to do anyway.
