In response to AmishWarlord: Even if the magazine is defunct, somebody still owns the copyright. I would be careful about republishing old articles without written permission.

How about getting a refund for remainder of a subscription that was paid for up front. I lost 3 or 4 issues that I paid for and have NOT been able to get any kind of a refund.

So does somebody know who owns the copyright? Perhaps they read this forum.

Just wondering...
Don't certain things become "Public Domian" after a number of years?

As a matter of fact, Brian, something just came my way recently.

If she's only sending out Weak Signals, I'd had to see what would happen when she sends out the Strong one!!

Just found the year 2000 index in the Feb 2001 copy of RCM. Here it is. Sorry some are rotated, I can't save them after I turn them the right way.

Does anyone have the index pages for any of the other years?

Sincerely, Richard

Did the annual index start in 2001? I have checked the Feb 2000 edition and it does not show the 1999 index.
There is however an article index 1963 >> 2004 on the RCM Plans web site. http://www.rcmplans.com/index.php

Boxes of RCM in the closet. Went with me every time the Coast Guard thought it was time for me to move on to another job. I have started looking through them to see if there was anything I would like to keep, if not out they go. If anyone is interested in a particular issue I may have it.

Thanks for the offer. Having a Saito FA 180, I would like the Aug 2000 issue as it has a review of that engine by C. Lee. PM me so I can send postage if you have that issue. No hurry though.

Thanks.

Sincerely, Richard

I've often wondered what happened to RCM, rather I assumed it stopped publishing at one point and wondered
what exactly caused it's demise.

I read parts of this thread and realized it was in part an evolutionary thing. Market, available material, passing of key
persons all added up to the end of the magazine. I generally enjoyed the content and while never a subscriber
I purchased editions regularly. I probably would have saved money had I subscribed. My following RCM began in the
late 1970s. I have few issues except one I wrote an article for in the early 1990s on RC armor models.

I was sad to see the magazine go, and those covers! They definitely brightened your day didn't they?

This has been an interesting thread, one of the remarkable aspects being it spans some 5 years!

Hello Tanque,

Thanks for dropping in. A lot of us here agree with your assumptions, that the magazine evolved out of existence.

However, a lot of us feel that a magazine like RCM could make a successful comeback, albeit to a smaller audience, i.e., a magazine that writes truly technical articles or constructions articles for those of us who would still like to read them.

And the covers, of course, were always in good taste... but that was the frosting on the cake. The cake was always delicious.

Which article did you write, and which issue was it in? I'd like to see if I happen to have that particular issue in my archives...

Thanks,

Bob

Hello Bob,

I wrote a brief article on RC tanks, "Makin' Tracks" which was published in the October 1991 issue, pages 160- 161.

It was an enjoyable experience. I've learned so much in the last 20 years since I could nearly write a book....
When I wrote this I had just been back in the hobby for a few years after a 4 year absence. I've made many friends
and met so many wonderful people because of that article.

One of the more notable was the late Moody Braun who had previously run "Little Engines"; a company that sold large scale live steam engine kits. Moody wanted to try a different sort of project and set his incredible engineering skills to make a 1/10 scale Sherman M4A1 both in kit and finished form. It was going to be a beautiful model but sadly he never lived to see it completed. It was finished by others not in the way or to the standard he envisioned but to their credit they did the best
with what they had.

1/10 scale RC armor has been a joy to me for many years. I first became involved with it in 1976; I'd enjoy the opportunity to write further about it. Perhaps one day. In the meantime I write for my own website.

Jerry

Thanks for that information, Jerry. Unfortunately, I don't have any 1991 articles, I've just discovered. I'll have to get some of those issues, especially October.

If you have a public website, perhaps some guys here might be interested in perusing it.... I'd like to sneak a peek myself.

For a short time in the early '90s I used to subscribe to RCM. I have 10 to 15 issues put away somewhere in the attic.

Hello File,

I've made a collection over the years, some going back almost to the begining, up thru to the last issue. It was a great magazine. I wish that something like that would come back on to the market again. The customer base wouldn't be as large, because people don't like to build any more, but the technical articles that they put into that magazine were well worth the price of subscription.

What was your opinion of the magazine (covers included :-) )?

Guys,
Looking for RCM Magazine dated OCTOBER 1993.
Has nothing to do with the cover shots!
Thanks, Dave

Do you just want something that appeared in that issue, or the entire magazine?
I have them all, and can provide photo copies, if all you want is an article, photo, ad, etc..

April 1975. Joy Stick was the very first model I ever built......
