Props- Wide Blade, Multi Pitch
I'd like to find out what the theory is and advantages/disadvantages of using wide blade props or using multi pitch props such as a 18x6-10. When do either of these have an advantage over a regular prop?

RE: Props- Wide Blade, Multi Pitch
Stephen,
There are probably as many theories of the purpose and value of the multi pitch prop as there are props. But, I will offer mine: the low pitch is near the root, reducing the prop load toward the center. Load is already low there, but further reduction is useful if you are running a large cowl. A side benefit, with the wood Zingers at least, is that the hub is thinner resulting in a lighter prop. I can't comment on the wide blades.
Have fun!

Thanks BEEPEE
Does anyone have any information concerning the use of wide blade props or multi pitch props for use with gas motors. Props such as 18x6-10 etc
