Floor Progress:

Due to some nice developments this morning... we are ready to proceed installing the first bay (8 x 16) of paving stones... this will cover from one door to the other. We hope to install Nov 19... and could probably use some help..

We have a loader lined up to do the heavy lifting..

Thanks the all the contributors so far.... Cecil has donated a lot to the project and I have matched his contribution.

It will not be long and we will have the whole building's floor complete.

Please consider donating.

Don't forget the Veterans Day fly on Friday 11-11-11 with a cider champagne toast at 11 am (or is that 11 minutes and 11 seconds after 11?)

See you there, bring your warbirds.

Calling for mostly sunny highs in the lower 50s... Breakfast is being served.

Hi all, I have been keeping busy with a bunch of new projects. I am going electric with all of my planes. The biggest planes will be my 1.60 size AT6 Texan and my 1/4 scale Cub. I am currently changing over all of my smaller planes. If you call a 9 foot 6 inch wing small. I have also fell in love with night flying. It is just so relaxing to be out floating around in the dark. I have a new old timer plane that will be my next night flyer. A Lanzos Record Breaker, 96 inch wing, polyhedral, 3ch. Just a very cool looking old timer plane. I can not wait to add 2000 + LED's to it. Along with the pile of other smaller silly projects. Full contact combat planes are a lot of fun.

We are planning to remove the existing rock on the west one-half of the shelter's floor and install rock dust bedding material for the concrete pavers.

Anyone interested in helping, please contact me. 7am to 12 noon. We have enough pavers to do two bays of the floor. You can send me an e-mail through RCU.

I don't think that we will get pavers started, but who knows. Picks, shovels, steel rakes needed. I have a bob cat scheduled to be there. If things change, I will post here.

It will cost about $400 more to finish the west side of the building... we will do it as money is raised. We have enough stone dust to do the entire building.

I did not plan to remove all the gravel from the shelter. Once we got started, it became apparent that the machine needed to do the whole thing.

I plan to move the picnic tables back in the East side of the shelter today. This week, I hope to get the center band of pavers down.

You will not hurt anything to walk on the stone dust. Be careful not to trip.

Thank you to everyone that came out and helped yesterday. Matt, John, Dave, Mark, Ray, Bob (and Tom kept us company) Thanks to everyone who has contributed.

If you can help out, please contribute.

What an awesome job today... we got a 16 ft by 16 ft area of pavers down ... and it is looking good. Thanks to all the guys that pitched in today (even after a long day yesterday)

Thanks for all the contributions today... outstanding... monetarily we are 50% complete, actual work in place is 33%

Stop by the shelter and take a look at the progress. It has Skip's seal of approval (see pic).... we will put up a tarp to cover the missing panel tomorrow to make it comfy again.

Please try not to spill anything on the pavers until we can get them sealed.... planning to put another 8 x 16 section down next week end. .. or more ???

We purchased enough pavers today to finish the east side of the building. Thanks to several large contributions last Sunday... Christen, Lee, Phu (I hope spelling is right) and Gary.

Sorry if I have not acknowledged everyone... a lot of people have contributed, so thank you.

We are going to have the pavers delivered Saturday morning, so rain or shine, we need a couple of people saturday to help unload the pavers and get them into the building.

We are about 75% complete on the finances to finish. The building is once again closed in with glass windows (no tarp).

This is a project of mine and nobody has to contribute... that is your decision. I hope everyone enjoys it when finished.

The Architect is working on plans and specifications for the CATV and wet bar.

Cecil asked how large is the freestate field area?... using boundaries of road and high voltage lines the area is 120 acres.

I got a great offer today... an unnamed person is willing to put up a dollar for each dollar collected this weekend and next up to $250.

Yes, that means we are $250 from the finish, if I can raise the matching contributions... sounds great to me.

Thanks to everyone...

Wanted to let fellow club members know that I am selling a couple of my planes to fund a new project just released from Top Flite. I really would like to keep the Fokker DVII that Gary built in our club. I will be posting it here on RCU for $1200/offer Bind and fly. If an FSA club member is interested I am willing to work with you on the price. I am also selling the venerable 89" Dynaflite Chipmunk, she's got quite a few years on her and a bit of hanger rash but she"s a great flyer - perfect for anyone wishing to step up into flying heavier warbirds. Asking $400 no motor (needs a G-38 or US41) includes all servos and Spektrum 7ch RX, new ABS cowling and the mold that I made the current cowl with.

Fokker DVII - 88" WS, Zenoah G-26, Hitech and Spektrum Digital servos, 2700mah/ 6v Battery, Spektrum 7000 RX (23-24 pounds) $1200 - less for FSA member

Dynaflite Chipmunk - 89" WS, set up for G-38, JR and Hitech servos, 3000/mah/6v battery, Spektrum 7000 RX (16-17 pounds) $400

Fiberscale ME109E Kit - 84" WS, Kick ass beautiful glass fuse, foam core wing, full cockpit kit, 2 spinners (This is a battle of Britain era 109) Great winter project ! $300

Good News... I have all the money to buy the remaining pavers that we need to finish the shelter area.

Thanks to EVERYONE that has donated to the project. You guys can stop running away from me now. (for a bit anyway)

My goal is to have the rest of the floor installed for the Jan 1 fly-in. Black-eye pea soup, corn bread.... mmmmm ....mmmm.

If anyone has found a Kindle (electronic book tablet) Sunday or Today at the field, I have misplaced mine.

It is password protected.

I have had a few people ask me about the MEDS electric event for 2012. So I guess I should give an update of what is going on.

I will not be holding the MEDS event at FSA in 2012. I was going to hold the event at a full scale airport in 2012 but the property owner and I just could not come to terms on the deal. I have decided that if I can not find a new place to hold the event, well no problem I will just skip a year. I have been asked to bring it back to the FSA field for 2012. I just don't think it is a wise idea. I did it once and had a great event. If I can do it again some where else, fine. If not, oh well not a big deal.

I will not renew next year as well. I have spent 6 years at FSA. I have made a lot of friends and had a lot of fun. I really enjoyed flying with most of you. There are a few that I have butted heads with. For those that were involved, I'm sorry. I am sure some where some how I was out of line. I will miss flying at FSA, but I have made up my mind. I will not be back. (to the joy of some I'm sure)

Andrew
