Default So what about Pizza Boxes?

I can't help but admit that I derive some entertainment value from reading what some of you guys think about ARF's...and being razzed about flying Spads...thoughts about C/L...getting hammered when I brought up how over rated 3D was...and reading comments about designers who scratchbuild being kings of the hobby. One thing I haven't heard any opinions here about is the latest outbreak of Pizza Box Flyers (PBF). The way I see it, so far, there is nothing you can put down about them.

1. They are not ARF's
2. They are scratch built
3. Many builders are designing their own versions
4. They perform the most radical 3D stuff imaginable
5. They are radio controlled
6. Many of them used wood for the engine mount

I even held off flying one for a long time, because I only knew about them from the internet, and didn't understand what the big deal was. Then one fatefull day I saw one fly...I was hooked immediately and it's one of the funnest concepts (besides combat) I've done in this hobby.

So all things considered, and from collating all your opinions, I think it must be the hobby's most perfect airplane!

I have one on the wall now awaiting radio and tank. Can't wait to try it out! It's right next to a Midwest 27% Extra. They look good together. Mine's made out of an old Coke sign advertising a sale on 12 pack cans.

Default Coroplast

There are about 5 people flying them in our area. With the elections over we have almost an infinite supply of corroplast. The big elections signs work great. Also get the old signs from the local convenient store and you can build on very cheaply. It's the "po mans plane"

I think they are a blast! I have said before, anything that you can make fly is FUN! And just like Spads and ARF's I would never belittle anyone for flying them... Unless of course they started saying thing like "FPB's were KING!"
