GET WELL SOON for CLAUDE MCCULLOUGH **UPDATE**
For those who know Mr. McCullough and all of His contributions to our hobby
over the years.
I recieved a letter in response to some questions I had asked Mr. McCullough,
In the reply He stated He was in the hospital recently for heart problems.
He also stated He was 80, Thats why I feel I need to share this with all who are
interested.
Mr. McCullough
I want to Thank You for many years of dedication to this hobby, I know You
are one of the many who have helped make this hobby Great for Me
and countless others.
My prayers for a fast and full recovery, and many more years to come.
For Me," Flying was a dream you helped come true"

Is he the designer of the Sig Kadet and Kobra airplanes? I think he was on the cover of the last Model Aviation working on his scale Grumman biplane.

To one of the masters
Claude,
I'm one of the many thousands of RCers who's followed your incredible and successful projects over the years. You certainly have my respect and admiration, and I hope you have a quick recovery, so you can build the next masterpiece for all of us to enjoy!
Thank you again for all you've given the hobby, and best wishes to you and your family. Take it easy, and get well!

Glad to hear Claude is doing better. My Dad grew up with him in Ottumwa, Iowa. When I was a kid, we used to go visit my Grandparents in Ottumwa every summer. My Dad and I would always go out to Claude's Grandparent's farm near Ottumwa Municipal Airport to see what new plane he had built that winter. He was usually working frantically trying to finish the plane for the NATS. I saw planes like the C-125 Northrup, XTB2D1 Skypirate, Yak 18 PM, and AM-1 Mauler. One year we went to Oskaloosa Airport to fly with him. I was flying a scratchbuilt Top-Flite Schoolboy with Pee-Wee .020 and single channel escapement. He was practicing with his Mauler and a plane that reminded me later of the Kadets.

Thank's Jerry for some additional insight, I imagine the thrill it must have been to see up close some of the great early-works"
I spliced cable in 77-78 in Ottumwa, ate at Dickey's Prairie Home Cafe. I wished I would have known then how close He lived, I would have tried to visit.
The letters I have rcvd. from Him are ear marked with a genuine kindness, and apparent dedication to the hobby.
Thanks; Dan Z

From Ottumwa?
wornboots,
Are you from Ottumwa? Did you ever attend the Antique Airplane Fly-in in Blakesburg? My Dad's 1929 Parks P-2A was Grand Champion in 1977. Sig used it in their dope ads for a while back then because it had Sig dope on it. I'm sure you probably have eaten at the Canteen in downtown Ottumwa. Later,
Jerry

Picture of Claude and Me
I dug up the picture of Claude and myself. The date on the picture is Sept. 65 so it was probably taken around July of 65. I was just 15 years old then. The plane is the one that reminds me of the Kadets.

No I'm not from there, Just worked there in 77-78 on a major rehab project for the phone company. I was between there and Wapello IA. during the worst winter I have ever seen.
The Pic was fantastic, next time I write I will send a copy (if thats OK?) But it looks like a forrunner to the Kadet or possibly the Komander kit #32 after the Kadet#31
Thanks for Sharing that,
Dan Z
