is it time for rcu to incorporate/ branch off
i have recently had a germ of and idea and would like to hear some feed back from all rc u members see ive noticed so many times some 1 needs a certain rc item' plane, charger ,better motor, etc etc etc and every 1 interested chimes in with their best picks whatever so hers my idea the members here all have so many great ideas and talents that maybe we need a place to go to hash out and actually build and design our own planes radios chargers and such so that we dont get ripped off all the time and well u get the idea dont u our own brand name item with all pattent rights and such and then members that want to get a part for their plane they know will work just right for them can get it for say wholesale plus 3% or whatever and the profits go to helping the community out i know everbody has some thoughts so lets here em all we might get so big that we could actuall help some 1 in need andhave enough clout not to worry. "ideas" people just ideas put ur 2 cents worth in i'm dead serious about some thing along these lines we are the big gorrilla on the block we just havent realized it yet

I'm with the bum on this one.
But I think in a lot of ways RC is already doing a lot of these things. There is a pretty good cottage industry in RC planes kits and plans. 2 of the 3 kits I have waiting to be built are from smaller manufactuerers (redstarrc and paul swany). Both cases are guys who wanted something different and used their own gumption to get it going.
Here in Argentina we even have a small company making a 46 sized engine and a few companies making kits.
I think building radios and electronic equipment for mass production would be a little difficult for a bunch of well intention guys from RCU.

treedog, don't pay any attention to these "high and mighty" goofs. They are perfect in all things. We are below them.

I normally don't post about punctuation, grammer and spelling because I'm not an example to be proud of either, but when you cannot figure out what was trying to be communicated, perhaps something should be said. I usually re-read my post a couple of times before I hit the send button and I'm always making changes.

Here's a scary thought...I completely understood everything he said.
Here's one even scarier ... He just could be absolutely correct. If we could capitalize on the fact that there is strength in numbers, and pool our resources, This idea of his could be accomplished with a minimal investment on our collective parts, and the return might well become enormous.
At the very least, we could then feel that we had some recourse to the model distributor.
Just my thoughts on this.

I have to say its not a bad idea either.
In a way RCU has sort of started down this road by having the "Your Model" part of your dossier. It does kind of show what people are flying & what gear that is being used with the aircraft.
Possibly it could be used to offer brand X Aircraft works best with brand Y parts fitted.
Or the collective inputs of members could be used to offer design input into a selection of aircraft, & or parts.
The only down side I see in this is 170 000 cooks in the kitchen, how do you decide who is correct??
Tony.

And there's the rub. There are varied opinions as to what's "best" so to try and narrow it down to one item per category is impossible. Also the idea of being able to sell things for 3% over cost is naive of the ways of retail and the hidden costs. The whole thing is sort of a communist utopia for RC and when it comes to business we have seen how well that works.
