Field Box Ideas
I wanted to build a field box but in looking at the available ones at the hobby shop I don't see how I could improve on the existing designs.
Im looking for ideas. What would you change to create the perfect field box?
ps- I have already performed a search and I would prefer to build a fairly classic style wood box rather than modifying a plastic tool box.

I think everyone who has ever started this had a field box. I did and after 6 months found it to be a waste of time and not even user friendly anymore and junked it.
*Glo and and battery starter wires everywhere and get caught in the props and down right dangerous.
* Got to go "Mobile" I use a glo starter with a little meter on top to tell me if the plug is good while i am starting the engine.
* I tookmy starter and cut the prongs off. I then took the big black hobbico 12 volt and some big wire ties and strapped it together and hooked it up.
* I bought a $15 tool box at home depot to put it al in. There is also room inside and bought 3 of those "Parts" boxes to keep all the spare hardware. I mounted my hobbico fuel pump on the side.
Works great.

I've also had the box with the kitchen sink and everything else in it. What a pain. I have found that if you prepair your planes properly on the workbench, 9 days out of 10 all you need at the field are the essencials. From R/C combat experience, we bring a small "flightline" box up to the line, and in it are what you need for starting and flying and some of the basics for what may go wrong during a combat round. I've found that for sport flying, this simple box works just fine and covers minor things needed during the course of a Sunday flying afternoon. If something big does go wrong, my tool box with the kitchen sink in it is in the back of my car
