What is With All the Hostile Posts????????
Whats going on here?? Seems like every other post I read lately, people are flaming each others opinion, bickering, & generally degrading other posters on the thread. Several of the threads are getting downright "nasty". And it's not just confined to a few threads, it's all over boards.
I thought this was a hobby. Have I been mislead?[&o]

Hello; If you want "nasty" check out the MAAC forum, those guys take no prisoners. They must have nothing better to do with their time, and want everybody to know it.

But, isn't it refreshing when you read a build thread, where people are actually talking about modeling and building techniques?

Hostile????? Hostile ????? I haven't seen much hostility. I even looked at the MAAC threads and everybody seems to be getting along quite well.

Of course, there are different opinions on what is "Nasty" and what is "friendly bickering" so we do our best to keep everyone happy.
But by all means, if you see a post that you find offensive, just click the "Report" Button at the bottom of the offending post and a moderator will straighten it out.

When people start a thread asking for opinions there is at least one person that has to argue that your opinion is wrong . Didn`t know there was a right and wrong opinion , must have missed that day in school . I try to give the best facts I know and opinions on items I have used. Seems like some people are just posting remarks like these just to get other people going . Then there are people that have been in the hobby for one year and know it all .

people can't stand being told their wrong. and even if they are they will defend their opion tooth and nail andthe same time getting a real kick out of ticking someone off

I have not noticed an increase in hostile posts (maybe I'm in the wrong forums). Thats not to say there are no hostile posts. I think there is no way to stop that. In general however I would say that RCU is pretty good in that regard.

Of course as Minn Flyer said the definition of nasty varies throughout the populace. There are those that have to find some kind of fault with everything. There are those that have ideas of really how to do things better. Some just don't like new ideas. Some "new ideas" are not new at all, have been tried before and found not very workable. The older types scuff it off as if everyone should know the idea is bad whereas the presenter finds it deplorable that some should reject his brilliant revelation.
Due to the great injection of the electric crowd into the model aviation arena in recent times, there are many individuals that have little experience or no experience in the model aviation endeavor and resent about anything concerned with rules, guides, and organization. They spout off about things that some of us old timers have worked all our life to improve, and that gets a bit tight in the conversation.
Kind of like kids: How are they supposed to react? Parents spend the first 3 years teaching them to walk and talk and the next 16 years telling them to sit down and shut-up! 
Guess we are all kids at heart or we wouldn't be playing with toy airplanes.

Pipe down there TS. After a visit to sunny AZ I learned you guys leave th feild at 11 AM when the breeze picks up. That 5mph was what we call a dead calm here in NC[sm=punching.gif][sm=punching.gif] OOPs was that a flame?[X(] Scuse me, Chi town does suck without any encouragement so you Michigan guys are safe, nevermind Ohio[sm=spinnyeyes.gif].

Vicman, didn't you notice the 'friendly' atmosphere here is AZ? I give credit to the fact that we have 325+ days a year in sunshine! And yes, we do quit flying around 11:00 because the temperature crosses over from warm (103-105) to downright hot (110-115). That's our 'buidling season'!
