Starting Table Plans
Hello! Our club is in the process of developing a new flying field and we would like to construct some starting tables for the convenience of our members. Does anyone out there have plans or pictures of starting stands they use? Any help is greatly appreciated!

RE: Starting Table Plans
we have a lot of "veteran" flyers in our club, our old facility was on a full scale airport, so we could not have any permanent or semi permanent tables in the pits. I know it was a pain for some of these guys to be constantly bent over to work on their planes so this should be a welcome addition. It even looks like we have a eagle scout troop volunteering to build them!!

RE: Starting Table Plans
Has anyone tried building these tables out of PVC pipe, PVC lumber or plastic wood (Trex, etc.)?
What were the results?
Thanks,

KW,
I would not recommend PVC pipe. We have our pilot guards made of PVC and they do not hold up well in the long haul against the sun. We built our starting stands of treated 2x lumber and they are quite satisfactory.

Bedford,
Thanks for the insight. Here in Lake County I think we are hotter and dryer than Houston.
We are at a higher altitude, I don't know if that affects the UV that is usually the destructive element in the sun.
Where do you fly in Houston? Links to sites?
I may be making a business trip there in the future.
Do you have much trouble keeping flying sites in such an urban area?
Thanks,
