Hobby Center San Antonio Closing
For those of you that live in Central or South Texas it is my sad duty to let you know that after 40 years (35 in one location) Hobby Center in San Antonio Texas is closing its doors. Rex and Joan Oconnor have been the owners from the beginning and were giving the news that the building and place they called home had been sold and they have until Oct. 31st to get out. Hobby Center has plenty of 1/4 scale or larger airplanes, kits, radio, engines, south Texas lagest inventory of plastic models, trains, boats, paints, glues and all. Currenty if you spend $50 or more you can get discounts of 20% or more on items. He already has most large items marked down. They can be reached at (210) 735-4218

RE: Hobby Center San Antonio Closing
Yes that is the store on Fredricksburg Rd. They are selling out of almost everyhting already on the RC side. They have a Great Planes Ryan STA in military colors, the EZ kits shown in the pictures above. A SIG Rascal ARF, the Great Planes big P-51 ARF. Most of the planes on the ceiling are for sale and Rex is going to bring down some antique kits to sell. They will probably be down there on Saturday. They have OS engines and Evolution engines marked down. Some Eflite including the Super Airliner. That is all I can think of for RC. They have marked all of the Lionel and MTH trains down too. They have to be out by the end of October so they are clearing everything out. Even the displays.

Nostalgia
Watching the 1975 movie on now (STARZ ENCORE ACTION channel Direct TV) starring Peter Fonda "Race with the Devil" brought me here via google search ☺.
In beginning of movie, they race on a track with a very aged ad sign for Hobby Center. Seeing they were at the Alamo, I search San Antonio Hobby Center. On the sign, it has burg on address, the rest is torn away. Cool stuff finding historical things 😆😆
