makin' smoke
Have any of you tried 'bleach' as a smoke fluid? It used to really put out some heavy white smoke off the rear tires. Much better than a water burnout. (Something the driver's ed. teacher never got around to teaching.)

Smoke PUMPS
Hi,
Saw one Post regarding the Perry Crankcase pump not working too good. I would like to know from others if they have tried this pump for use in a smoke system, and what kind of results were had? Thanks in advance for any infos.

Smoke PUMPS
Hey there, Paul -
That post may have been mine. I have a Perry crankcase pump on a 2.4 Brison Gasser and don't like it a bit. I'll be changing to either a B&B or one of the battery operated (didn't want the weight) systems. As for battery types, I see a lot of TME posts and even one thread about the fellow getting the windshield fluid pump from Wal-Mart - which I think he mentioned was the same pump as sold by some RC brands. I would have to review the post to confirm details.
From my experience, it just seems like the Perry can't keep up and I've tried all different fluid amounts. One good thing about the Perry is that it does have a needle valve for control so I'll probably keep that installed for the new pump I use.

Bigger pump for big engine?
Hi,
I did a search on smoke pump systems and found out someone was selling their B&B pump system for about $40. Seeing the prices on the TME etc. This may be a great deal for ya. I have a ST .61 2 cycle that I plan on installing the Perry crankcase pump on ( I already had bought it). Do you think that with the smaller engine, the Perry pump might work out? My second choice would be to go with the MACS products pressure system at $30. Any observations...
Thanks,
Paul

Oh, now for a .61, it may indeed do the trick. That'll be quite a difference than it trying to keep up with the gasser. Your issue may be needing a heater coil in the muffler to hit the temps for thick smoke.
40 bucks for a B&B, eh? Hmmm... may have to check that out.
Thanks!

Hi,
I need to complete my TME system. Is it necessary to get a smoke muffler (over $70 bucks!) to use with a YS.91FZ? The goal of course is to have good 1st class smoke.
Thanks for infos guys,
Paul

Pre-Heater
Here's a cheap preheater. Basically take some tubing and coil it around the muffler several times, preferrably in the hottest area, then have the smoke oil go though the coil then out into a nipple, also preferrable in the hottest area. I did this on my Saito 150, but the coil was on the header pipe. It smoked awesome, just could have used a better smoke oil, I was experimenting with tranny fluid and tiki oil.

I STILL cant find a pump at the local wally world... I went a few weeks ago then again and they dont have them..
I guess the super chippy is going to have to live without smoke for a bit longer (I need a new muffler on it anyway... the one I was going to use doesnt give enough back pressure.)

A few days ago while going through some mags from '93 I ran across an ad for a smoke maker. Don't recall the name of the company, but this set up had the smoke fluid running through a "Preheater" before going to the muffler.
Anyone have any idea of what that "preheater' consisted of?
I have an idea kicking around in my head to make one, but I'd like to hear from any of you who have had some experience with smokers before I start experimenting. A "Preheater sounds like a better idea than wrapping tubing around the cylinder head.

Also, how do I wire up the pump without the use of a servo. I tried plugging the pump into my gear channel, but the pump ran continually. The tme pump says it plugs into an extra channel without the use of an extra servo or battery. How does this work?
Thanks
Seth
