RC Flying Is Cool
At parties I tell people I plan to pursue RC flying and many people think its a cool hobby to pursue. What do you think? I am so looking forward to RC flying. Lot of my friends want to do RC flying, but either its too expensive or they don't have enough time.

When you compare R/C with any other serious hobby it cost no more and sometime a lot less. You just got to know what your limits are. How many diehearted fishermen can fish from the bank all the time. Got to have that 10,000 dollar boat and then all those different rods and reels that are 2 or 3 hundred a piece. It doesn't matter what you do. They're gonna get ya going and coming.

RC Flying Is Cool
It takes a commiment of money and even more time. It's not as easy as it looks. It took me an entire summer to solo my first year and my trainers kept me doing it over and over again until I got it right. I remember it was a way cool feeling that november day. Only 2 others there. I went to either solo or burn. I soloed. Yep way cool and it only happens once. Bkf

RC Flying Is Cool
A fellow flyer from my field (say that 10 times fast) made an interesting point the other day...
I said to him that this can become an expensive hobby. He replied "where else can you get an entire day of something you enjoy for just $3 to $6 bucks (cost of fuel)".
I never looked at it that way...once you own the plane your cost is negligible to fly it and enjoy it. Provided you don't crash it you can usually sell it down the road for a decent amount of money (especially if you bought it second hand). In that respect it isn't all that expensive. I spend 6 hours plus at the field and maybe use $4 in glow fuel on a good day...all things considered it isn't very expensive!
