Default Hobby Lobby Oracover

Just clicked on to their site, they say that they are going to carry only the light weight Oracover aka Ultracote it is about 2 bucks a roll. I would like too know is this the same poor quality covering as Econocote,Towercote, etc? I would like to get some input on this.

Most of the time the edge of the Ultracote has Oracover printed on it.

At $2/roll I doubt its Ultracote. Isn't it usually $10-$12/roll? Or am I just getting raped?

Oracover is the original trade name used in Germany where it is manufactured. It is sold in the US by Horzon under the trade name Ultracote.

I can't believe any covering of any type could be had for 2.00 bucks a roll. you must mean 12.00 bucks a roll. I have used ultracote and it was superior to monycote IMO. It also stands up better as I have flown it for one season now including an unschedualed landing in a tree. only one small tear.

I have used both regular Ultracote (it did say oracover on the backing) and lightweight oracover. They are very similar, the lightweight is just a little less durable and a little more prone to sag.

Granted, the sagging I got with the lightweight may have been partially because I didn't stretch it as tight as usual before shrinking - I used it on a 1/2a model and was worried that I would break something yanking the stuff tight like I would with a .40 aircraft.

bottom line: I would recommend both coverings.
