RE: Do you have your perfect plane yet?
I have stopped trying because it is a frustrating exercise in futility. My goal is to have some fairly nice planes and enjoy the hobby! I find I enjoy it more when I am not driving myself nuts wrapping parts for the car ride or worrying about creating a blemish instead of enjoying a nice day of flying.

When you make the switch from glow to gas it's real close to achieving nirvana. It's not that much different in most things, but completely different in others. I can see where the GeeBees would do nice things for some people and their styles.

RE: Do you have your perfect plane yet?
Nope. And I hope it never happens. I'm always planning three planes ahead at any time.
If I were ever to let slip at home . . .
Me: "Snookums, I finally found the perfect plane!"
THE ADMIRAL: "Good, now we can throw out all the others and pieces hanging around the cellar"
And what would I look forward to trying, flying, frying and crying? Presumably you'd never crash the "perfect plane" because it was always in control or responsive enough to recover in time. How boring that would become in a short while. I'm forever trying to get on top and ahead of my planes because they are sneaky and try to surprise me. It's fun. Like having a mischevious terrier dog that constantly tests you.
Snoop: "Saw your car at the field. How was it"
Me: "Perfect. Same as always."
What would you be able to talk about at ckub meetings or here?
Nope. Don't want one. Suffering builds character. Give me a model with quirks any day. Make that five models with an assortment of quirks.

Whats your perfect plane? Is it that Sukhoi?
Some of you may laugh, but my dream is a Hurley Extra. I've seen them and flown one. HEAVEN!! I'm no expert at 3D, and frankly, it's not that much fun anymore. Once you learn to hover and torque and harrier--what else is there. It's all just flopping around and stick banging. I want an IMAC plane and I truley belive the Hurley Extra is IT. It's a great 3D machine too--but thats not what I want it for.
I love to build. I talked to Mike about how to build that plane light (26--27 pounds). He even offered to loan me his foam templates to cut my own foam parts, but that was a couple years ago and I've lost touch with him. [&o]

I am yet to find the perfect plane and I'm certain that I never will. I have some that are very good but I think that a "perfect" plane would only exists in a simulator.

I didn't give the name of the plane to avoid sounding like I was advertising, but, yea, that Sukhoi is the best thing I've ever flown. It has this "feel" that makes it seem like it "fits" a person. Hard to describe but that was as close as iIcould get without being inside one.

I think I'm always going to be looking for the next project or plane, but the newest addition to my fleet is probably as close to perfect as I'm going to get for a while. I bought it used so I'm hoping over the next couple months to personalize it (well, I already have a little by spraying gasoline on the foam belly pan ) and get it flying exactly the way I want. With my new plane I have no more excuses to not move up to Unlimited, so I had better start practicing!

I don't think that the perfect plane existe. Of course I may have actually purchased the perfect model airplane at some point, but I screwed up the perfection with my less than perfect building/covering/finishing/flying. [8D]

RE: Do you have your perfect plane yet?
I have mine! First and only plane I ever bought - Sig Kadet Senior ARF converted to a tail-dragger, powered by a TT-Pro 61 and controlled with a simple Hitec Laser 4.
I made 2 SPAD Debonairs 1 trike and 1 tail-dragger. They're nice flying planes but nothing compares to my Kadet.
I'm easily satisfied, which is good because it saves me money.
