How long have you been addicted
I too since '64. First RC was a Little Esquire single channel with escapement and Medalion .09. It got downwind one day and after looking for it in the woods for two weeks, I gave up. Eight months later the guy who owned the property found it when he stepped on it. The receiver and escapement were the only survivors.

How long have you been addicted
Since '75. I have tried to quit a couple times but both were unsuccessful. I did manage to quit a 3 pack a day smoking habit during that time though. Wife told me if I'd quit I could have the money for my planes! Now that's incentive!!!

How long have you been addicted
I,ve been involved for roughly 20 years. I gave it up in 1985 and started playing golf. Five years ago, I got burned out on golf and got back into R/C and hav'nt looked back. I'm more addicted this time around than before. Somehow, I just like being around the good old boys in this sport more than the country club bunch. RS

I started R/C in 1957 (that's 46 years ago) with a single channel radio imported from Germany. No R/C kits on the market at the time . We converted Free flight planes to rudder only control. Sometimes the radio worked - but most of the time it didn't. So what - it was a free flight plane anyway. It just soared off into the wild blue yonder with us chasing after it. Lots of fun! If you didn't experience the days of single channel - you are very lucky! Only the most die-hard modeler stayed the course in those days.

How long have you been addicted
I got involved in this sickness when my Mom married my step dad in '52, and he was into rubber powered and it was this that got me interested. He bought me a firebaby for my 9th b'day (1953) and the hobby shop owner taught me to fly it and there was no turning back. I stayed for the most part with U/C and F/F until the 70's and then took the plunge into R/C. My first radio was Graupner used and it was broken more then it worked. I flew 1/2-A for awhile then moved up to a .40 size plane. The plane was a GB Skylane 62 and what a pleasure to fly and even have one in the shop and some day I will get to it and relive those times. I guess that close to 50 years one might say that I am hooked!!!!

How long have you been addicted
Let's see, I guess I first got addicted at about age 10 or so, but didn't get my first airplane until I was 13, I think. That was back in 1983. The first time I got that little Enya 19TV started, I was HOOKED. That first airplane survived about 4 attempts at flight before it met it's end... then I got smart and got some instruction. (Thanks Bill and Leo!)
Now it's 2003, so I guess that makes it right at 20 years. I took about 6 years off though, but not really by choice... just didn't have the time or a place to fly.
Now I just can't wait till Spring comes and flying weather returns!

How long have you been addicted
Got my first single channel carrier wave radio used in 1959. One for right and two for left. Wet cell battery and a 9ft whip antenna. I still have my 20 to 1 escapement rubberband winder. I'm thinking of moving up to reed pretty soon.

How long have you been addicted
Thanks for the vote's guys it is interesting to see how long people can stick with such an addiction and not feel bad.
My wife has taken a few years to accept the fact that I am in it for ever.
Later Jim
