Something is wrong with me
There are to many planes to fly regularly living in my garage and there are kits waiting to be built in my workshop and I just ordered another one, this time it is a 60" SE5a from FunAero.
I am pretty convinced that there is something wrong with me.

RE: Something is wrong with me
Hello Charlie; Whatever it is you have, I have it too, I wonder what we can take for relief. Me, I'm going to take a Morris hobbies Gee whiz Bee. I don't crash as much as I used to, and I think that that's where the problem lies. I guess I'll have to "push the envelope" a bit and maybe suffer the consequences.
I kind of hope I never recover.

RE: Something is wrong with me
I have the same problem, but rather than buying another plane I just take the ones I have and covert them to electric. AXI 2826/12 on 4S2P A123 setup does a nice job in 40 size models. The AXI and Jeti 40 amp controller come in a real small package so they don't attract near the attention as a big box being delivered. Same for DeWalt drill packs that we use to make the batteries from.

Look at it this way...
There are guys who cover their cars in bottle caps.
There are guys that have basements FULL of cookie jars (Empty ones)
There are guys that climb to the top of some stupid mountain "Because it's there"
You seem pretty normal to me
Even if you died tomorrow, at least your next-of-kin could sell the stuff - What would they do with a car covered in bottle caps???

RE: Something is wrong with me
There is nothing wrong with you. It's the other people that have something 'wrong' with them.
Trust me. I have been doing this for a quarter of a century now and the only strange people I know don't have model airplanes.

Here is what you need to do, send me all your planes but one. If you ever feel the need to change planes thats ok, just make sure you send me the old one. No one would ever accuse a guy with just one plane of having a problem

Sometimes you have to get away from the 1/4 scale P-17 with retractable instrument bezels and it's 98 unique triple-tapering seven piece wing ribs just to slap together a .40 Super Doofus for pure entertainment. May never get an engine or radio, but who cares?

I told my girlfriend that I just got yet another plane and she got that "are you crazy" look on her face so when I brought my new GP power wood plane I got a little chuckle out of her.

RE: Something is wrong with me
Sometimes I feel guilty. I even dream about these things nonstop. Am I alone? I woke up in the middle of the night last night and I was panicked. Seems I was trying to figure out the correct prop size and pitch to squeeze the most amps out of my AXI without burning out the motor. Seems kind of silly that this occupies this much of both my conscious and subconscious mind.
So what am I going to do today as soon as it gets light out? Hmmm, I think I will go flying.

Heh heh!! Wait till you start dream building. You should see my dream shop, oh you cant. I'm worse in the dream shop than in my real shop. Twenty planes on twenty work benches not finished. And new work benches keep popping up. So natrually I have to start a new project. YAAAAAHHHH HAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!!

It's all a conspircay! The pusher ... , a, er, instructor said 'Try it, I'll buddy box with you'. Turned out that first flight was sooo addictive. And to top it all off, it was just a gateway addicti ... , a, er, hobby. Yea, hobby. Anyway, next think you know your assembling arfs, building kits and creating a workshop in the middle of the dining room, collecting planes. Gotta get that new radio and just a few more flight packs. Gotta build that field box from hell. Hmm, should I pay the mortgage or get that lathe?. Then, when we're in too too too deep, we find out that it's weakened our immune system and we caught the worst desease of all from our wives. We're shop-aholics!! AAaaaaaaaaaaahhhhh!!!
Where's my baggie of balsa dust??

RE: Something is wrong with me
This condition is known as AAADDDRCA
Accute Adult Attention Deficite Dissorder Due To Radio Controlled Aircraft.
The sufferer of this condition experiences difficulty concentrating on non rc related activities.
Symptoms of this condition include but are not limed to:
Insomnia, loss of money, unexplainable desire to destroy hobbyshop reciepts, dillusions of grandure, light brown snot, spousal avoidance, developing extra sensory perception (i.e. locations of hobby shops and flying sites just seem to 'pop' in the suffers mind) loss of fingerprints, unexplainable excitement for delivery trucks (brown ones especially).
Sufferers of this condition also might be recognized by premature developement of stretch marks and lines on his face, due to the constant smile this condition causes.
AAADDDRCA has also been documented to lower blood pressure and instance of heart disease, and increase episodes of extream euphoria.
I read this in the New England Journal of medicine..........I think.

RE: Something is wrong with me
Nothing wrong with you at all! Just yesterday my wife asked me " Don't you ever get tired of flying planes and reading on RCU?" Of coarse you KNOW what my response was..........HECK NO! I've been flying since 1993, I and still can't get enough of it.....I can fly 3 times a week, and the very next time out, I can't wait and get upset if I don't get in 6 or 7 flights! Oh yea, I got myself an Aerofly Pro Deluxe for Christmas so I can still fly when the weathers bad. hahahahaha
My logs for this year show 129 outings, with 616 fights. Not enough![sm=cry_smile.gif]
Yep, I'm pretty much hooked. Sad........................... LOL
