A key to the field
Do not know if this will ban me or what but being at least an on time dues paying member, have been known to mow the field, show up at spring clean ups and pick up my own debris at the field plus 32 years membership, long time R/C club member and brief board member bla bla 30 +mile trip to meetings which begin typically promptly at 7P and there is SERIOUS traffic conjestion it is just plain ole hard to make a meeting if you get off work between 5&6 know what I mean...So----->it really sems strange that every March the gate key is Ceremoniously changed and then If you miss the meeting you are at the 'mercy'of the mostly unified board members who have the keys-Soooooo its catch them and you get a key. it takes 39 cents for a stamp and for our club news letter thats 39 cents each month so WHY not a fricken key So why the hassel?
The Worst part these are R/C friends not some corporation or are they..[
as usual it might seem "I don't get it[:@]
Oh well back to the Real flight at least no wind[8D]

Why would your club use a lock with a key? It's so much easier to use a combination lock that has a changeable combination. Then you could get the comb. by e-mail.

If they say they are going to had out keys at a certain meeting and you can't attend, it seems like it should be your responsibility to make the contact to get one. I can understand the club not wanting to mail all of the keys out each year. If your club is like most, only 20% attend the meetings and only 50% fly at all. What I don't understand is why they feel like they need to change the locks every year and why they don't just use a combination lock.

There are alot of things that get on my nervs when it comes to r/c clubs too. In a way I would love to just find a place to fly and not join no stinking club. With this new radio sys. I beleave those of us that are fed up with clubs and rules can still fly with out all the hasell of dealing with people with to much power and not enough sens in thier heads.

Nah kmot, thats overkill. Here is the chance to get the rechargeable Dremel tool and cutoff wheel he always wanted and replace the key with a combination lock.

Thats the one I was waiting for. Dr1 we think alike How far away is the nearest friend who has a key? Have a buddy make you a copy if it is too much to drive whereever it is that the other mystery key is. This is a funny thread by the way......

We use a combination lock that I donated to the club.
Every year the combo is changed and when you get your new membersip card you get the new combo.
Cards are passed out or mailed, whatever works for each member.
I have not checked recently but a changeable combo lock used to be about 20 bucks.
