Well in case anyone is interested I ordered mine yesterday and it will ship before this week is over. So hopefully next week I'll get it and maybe say something about it in here since no one else has.

I'm putting one in the Wild Hare 35% Giles which will be the "official" RCU plane. Model Graphics is adorning it from the ground up in RCU logos and colors for the Toledo show. After the show I'll be making some serious smoke! Love to hear your experience with it.

Got it in the mail today.

I am very impressed with this unit to say the least! It's about the size of a pack of cigarettes, just a touch not as wide and about .25" taller.

I LOVE the way they have it designed to install! It is connected by two screws that screw in by hand, no screwdriver required! Very easy to take in and out, and since I have my tanks velcroed in, I can take the ENTIRE SYSTEM out in as much time as it takes to take my canopy off, unscrew the two screws, unplug the lines from the mufflers and undo the velcro holding the tank in! Under 3 minutes easy.

The entire pump unit, for those who don't know, contains the pump, battery (600 mah NiMH), and controller. Just plug into your RX and go. It also features what is essentially a speed controller, allowing you to adjust pump speed to the throttle (slave and master).

Pump = 8.5 oz.
Fuel line, T fitting = 0.7
Tank, cap, etc. (24oz.) = 2.1
OVERALL WEIGHT = 11.3 oz. dry!

I can't wait to see how it pumps. Oh and plus there's a 1 year warranty on it so yeehaw

Grams derrrrrrrrrrr............ I meant ounces.

I'm using a 3w-100. They tested the pump on a DA-100, also in a 35% Extra

Well the first flight test was yesterday.

It worked pretty awesome! Great smoke using super dri smoke fluid. It was somewhat windy yet it still held together very nicely. It looked very very nice!

I had the pump setup for either full on or full off, no mixing yet. I had a solid 5 minutes of full power smoke on a 24 oz. tank.

One thing i need to change however is the fact that we mounted the pump too low in the plane so it had a constant gravity feed to the engine.

Overall I rate this system VERY highly. I'll try the throttle mixing next time we get decent weather.........

Sounds like this is going to be the new king of smoke pumps. I just ordered two, one for my Byron Christen Eagle and the other for a 42% Weeks Solution.

Just make sure you don't do what I did and mount them lower than your smoke tanks!

I'll post a picture here of my final setup.

Kind of a pain but it's such a cool smoke pump

Picture of installation. I used a piece of thin plywood with a layer of carbon on the underside for stiffness. I just drilled and tapped the holes, stiffened with thin CA, and screwed the pump on.
Total weight is < 12oz.

Have you guys seen the new Sullivan SkyWriter smoke pump? Looks like similar features to the Slimline and it is slightly cheaper. Only thing it doesn't have is the onboard battery, that's one of the things that made me go for the Slimline.

Finally some competition in the smoke pump business, this can only be good for us!

I'm very interested in these smoke systems…
How do you set up such a system?

Can it be used by any engine?
At this moment I’m flying a small plane with a O.S. Max 25 FX.
I use methanol with Klotz as fuel.

Thanks for you answers.

Greetings,
Jeroen!

Finally some other folks with this pump. I am running mine on a CG Bucker. I have a Saito 1.50. I am also just using the gear channel to run as an on/off system. Did you adjust your gear trim? I have mine around +7. It' s ok but not great. I'm not even sure if I'm in the right place. I went to 90 like they suggested but the oil was pouring out of the pipes at full throttle.
Has anyone hooked it up to the trottle? I'll take any info.

Default RE: Slimline Showtime

I think one can find a better smoke pump than slimline. It would not be a difficult thing to do.

I'm wondering if this thing might actually make smoke with a 2 stroke. Since you can fine tune it maybe it can make a 2 stroke genereat smoke.
