I agree with most of their choices, EXCEPT FOR THAT MAGNIFICENT BEAUTIFUL WARTHOG!!! And maybe the V-22, but then I'm partial because I helped design the tilt-test stand for the engines...

I'm surprised th Feisler Storch didn't make it in.

The marines have the plane but I think they are currently grounded due to a few accidents.

How dare they call the A-10 ugly! And the B-52?? The only thing ugly about those planes are the looks on the faces of the enemies when they fly overhead.

I'm sticking to my guns about the Apache, but can't Imagine why the F-102 made it to an Ugly list. It looked better than anything Lippisch had designed to that point, and better than a lot of its contemporaries: F-84, F-89, F-101, were all a little awkward in the looks department.

Howinell did they ever miss the Lockheed F-94B?

I worked on those abortions for over two years and they certainly belong in that list of aerodynamic abortions. On the other hand the F-94C was fairly nice looking - at least in pictures - I never got to actually see one.

The F-94B looks like a T-33 with a bee-sting, but it's far from being truly gut-wrenching butt-ugly.

There are plenty of aircraft out there capable of visually inducing reverse digestive peristalsis.

My nominees: (Fixed-wing category)
The Northrop "Raider"

There are uglier "classic (old) aircraft, designed before the science of aerodynamic was known. This plane has no excuse. It is just completely without any sense of style or grace whatsoever. As someone once described a homely British car:"It looks as if it were designed by a committee, and everybody won."

The Leduc Ramjet

What can one say? It's French. Probably designed in some gauloises and absinthe-induced hallucination. It might not be as ugly as it is just plain weird. Something like a supersonic Citroen. If US pilots were afraid to eject from an F-107 because of the air-scoops, just imagine what these guys were thinking.

Default You all missed it.

And it didn't make the list either. It's the Champion Lancer.

Thankfully I never got in one, but those who have tell me you don't really reach full appreciation of how ugly it really is until you are forced to fly it.

Gotta take THAT for my next ride?
. Sorry, lost my license over the side.

Bill.

I saw one of those at Sun'N Fun last year. I don't remember being turned to stone as I cast my eyes upon it, just curious as to why anyone would bother putting two engines on a champ when there is plenty more horsepower available in ONE engine, and a MUCH simpler conversion.

Those LOOOONG main gear legs sure look fragile.

Gyro:

You are right, that is truly an ugly plane. And you will remember earlier comments on how the British really had a knack for making uglies. While this one you showed isn't truly British, it is Australian and I think that should count for something. Haw.

In THAT I have to do a crop-dusting round?
. Couldn't I please keep my butt on the ground?

No Stuka is ugly. It's a travesty to imply such. Only the fertile, superior Deutsch mind is capable of such a feat.

you should consider to stop drinking "coca cola" especially when you are choosing your president. hallucinations induced are a little bit more dramatic......
