Default Club with new field in Central Jersey looking for members

I am a member of a club with 18 members in central New Jersey that aquired a new field last year. There is a groomed 100' X 400' runway that we seeded last year. We are looking to increase our membership. The field is located about 2 miles off route 202 between Somerville and Flemington. The overfly area is a wide open hay field. Any one interseted in more details either e-mail me or post here.

I would like some details as well. I am relocating back home to Jersey over the summer (after Joe Nall ) and will be looking for a new place to fly. I checked out the Raritan Valley park off 202 last June while I was home visiting and wasnt real impressed. There were a bunch of guys flying, but were not real informative nor very friendly. I asked a bunch of questions and tried starting conversation, but half didnt respond and the ones that did, were very short in their response. It remeinded me of a high school clique! I just dont understand some people. We all love the same thing, so whats with the attitudes? And no you cant use "but I'm from Jersey" as an excuse! I would hope the club you are starting will have a differnet attitude towards visitors and potential new club members.

Marc,,
You actually fly...?
And when do you have time for this...
With the advent of the internet and sites as RCU, those people who seem to have
an attitude had better get over it real fast.. As with Warbird Fanatic one never knows who is a prospective member or who that person you are being nasty towards may be..
Thankfully, most places there are good people and again, with greater access
to more places many fields are more receptive to visitors flying..

It is good to see new clubs and expanding clubs instead of the usual noise we get about clubs closing or having to move.

Good job all who are involved.

This is actually a bad story that turned out good. When we went to pay our field rent last year the farmer simply said he didn't want us there anymore (after about 20+ years) no warning no reason never had a problem or complaint. By a stroke of luck, right time / right place, one of the members came across this location and we were only without a field about 1 month. Although others in the club may not agree, I feel that it was a blessing in disguise as the new field is one of the best that I have flown on (and I also fly at a sod farm). The best part for me is the fact that the sun goes behind you as the day wears on. Also you can fly that 15 size plane with the landing gear that belongs on it.

Folks, I know this is a bit old, but what's the status of the field? Is it still around? Still looking for members?

Flame Me for bringing up a 7 year old thread but this club is looking to expand the membership again. I moved back to NJ, joined this club and it is pretty awesome as far as the people go. The field is in a great location with not much around but farmland and a few houses. We are currently looking for new members and I invite anyone interested to come out and check the field out. If you fly at the 4H field and want a friendlier venue, we are the club for you. Want to learn how to fly, we want to start a new pilot program. PM me if you are interested in coming out.

As a old timer and instructer in many clubs i think it is great you guys getting this field and looking for members to either fly or teach newbes how to fly. I tip my hat to those who have made this happen. great job guys. joe

My club is looking to move to a new field here in minnesota and I am wondering what you guys pay for rent for your area if you are able to share this. We are unsure of a fair price to offer a farmer for use of his land to fly off of and over. Twostroke

Warren, no flame. You didn't resurrect this thread just to insert some lame BS. Good luck with the membership drive.

There have been some discussions here on RCU about increasing the awareness of a club in a community to lure new members. Some ideas include: Putting a float in a local parade, doing a mall show, hosting an open house and inviting the local media out.
