Hi,
I'm going to get a trailer this weekend. Just wanted to know what you thought the better deal is.
Made by Cargo Craft out of GA.

6x12x6h $2000.00
6x14x6h $2200.00
7x14x6h $2400.00

I've got 7 planes. 4 of them are 80 inches or bigger.

I know this is not a lot of diff in price, but it is all a stretch for me right now.

Ditto, get the biggest you can afford. Give it a few years, you will have the trailer packed with planes and not know how you got a long with out it.

Everyone's in aggreement on this one! Go for the big one. You just might be able to use it for hauling other things sometime. Mine came in handy when we moved the daughter from their apt. to a house. (plus, the little woman saw how good it worked and said she was glad I got it!) Everything airplane related in mine can be easily removed. I think we have a few guys in the club who are going to wish they had bought bigger trailers. go for it. They look like right good prices too!

30+% more volume for 20% more money. If you can afford it, haul it, store it, then the bigger the better. You could even haul a friends equipment the odd time. I have seen that offered.

Hey Matt
I have a 6x6x14 trailer and can tell you that If you are going to be driving down any small side roads, a 7' trailer Is not going to be a lot of fun to pull behind you. Best of luck with your new trailer.

I agree on the BIG'UN----One thing to keep in mind is what you are pulling it with. When I got my 6X10 I had a Nissian and I could have afforded a larger one, but that was the max my 4 cyl 2WD could pull. (Then I traded for a Explorer anyway, because of the reason stated) Doug is correct on the width also. One final thought. I ordered mine special because I wanted it insulated for storage. If it is not, it will get reel hot in summertime.--PS-them are some good prices!

How are you Sir? On 1-19-03 you posted you that your grandson was going thru seizures. Now I don't know you that well yet, but to hear this, It gave me the chills! Please tell me the little guy Is doing better now.? If he Is, then I know the rest of the family Is!

Thanks for asking Doug-- He is fine now. Some virus got hold of him and threw his system out of whack. After the ER doctors scare you to death, a nurogolist tells us that it is quite common with infants, and nothing a months worth of drugs won't fix. No long term problems to worry about. Everything fine now.

This response is not off base, in reality it is on base.
My son has cerebral palsy. One of the reasons for the trailer is so that when we as a family travel for an overnite stay, we can pack up his extra gear in the trailer instead of taking two cars everywhere we go.

That extra foot of width can make a big difference in getting in and out of tight places. You didnt mention do you have to pull in or out of narrow alleys or do you live in the country with lots of room. Another consideration is the room you have to store it in the driveway. I would suggest measuring the width of the running gear (outside width tire to tire) and see just how wide that measurement is. Then decide if the extra foot width is worth it. As long as you get the 14' in the length instead of the 12' footer the extra foot in width should not make that big of difference.

If you want a very nicely insulated trail get some urethane ( I think ). It is the same stuff as the Great Foam at home depot but it comes in big drums. I am not sure how much it costs but my cousin who is a contractor did our house with it and insulated the inside of his work trailer with the extra. A few inches of that stuff is about the same as R-40 insulation batts.

BIGGER is BETTER.... Big airplanes fly better so a BIG trailer must tow better....

I have a 7'W x 14'L x 7'H Interstate tailer with tandem axles, torsion bar suspension and the ramp door. I am very happy with my trailer... The actual door height is just over 6', the first thing I noticed when shopping was the height... I'm 6' tall... A lot of my friends have the shorter trailers and really regret it!! The width at 7' is less the fenders which adds another 4" per side, for a total width of 7'-8". Compare the width of the smaller 6' trailers, I recall they had a lot more hanging out off the side of the trailer. I remember larger fenders, definitely more than the 4" mine has hanging off the side... Anyway I have never found it a problem to drag mine around, allies narrow streets or whatever.

one and finance it as necessary. Life is short.

I didn't want to tell you to review my post about our trailer,I didn't want to "blow my own horn again" but now that I see why you need one i'm going to.

We have put over 1000 miles on it, Moving our stuff to the new town, And the trailer hauls beautifully, The extra weight did wonders for the towing stability.

Here's one for you. We had a fun fly last year and this guy shows up a day early with a full size motor home. Had his planes in slide out drawers in the bottom where luggage usually goes. Like on a bus. He pulled some pretty large planes outta that baby.

Probably was, he had enough money in the vehicle and the planes that I could have used to finish paying for my sons' college expenses with money left over. Oh well....maybe someday I can do the same thing. Follow the sun and fly whenever I want.

I have had both trailers. I had the cargo craft 14x6 v-nose which was actually 15 with the high sides and tandem axles. I just picked up my new one from rock hill sc which it is the same make but I dropped to a 6x12 single axle. A lot less weight to pull and I have room for all of my planes as well as my pressure washer and all attacthments. BAD ANDY
