It would appear ultrapaint to match ultracoat has dried up in the can so to speak. Anyone know where I can order midnight blue and white. My usual sources dont have it

Good luck getting Chevron... IF it's available. I have been waiting for a can of true red for a couple of months now....

Default PPG Paints

Try Tony Stillman at Radio south (www.radiosouthrc.com). He has a PPG concept system which he has had perfectly matched to ultrakote and monokote. He even has a small aerosol type can that you can buy to apply the paint with. It is not going to produce the same quality as a spray gun and compressor, but is an alternative when you don't have those things.

A few things about the PPG system -
1. it is expensive. I just got the stuff for a one color paintjob on a 40% Edge. This includes primer, color, and clear. Total was around $125. The nice thing is if I had purchased the same stuff from my autopaint store, I would have paid close to $300 because of the bulk you have to buy.
2. The paint is toxic. This is not stuff to joke around with. Paint outside or in a booth with a strong vent fan. You also need a resprirator - and I'm not talking a 98 cent paper mask. Failure to do so can and will result in serious damage to your lungs.
3. It is GREAT paint and will produce excellent results - you just have to handle it with care.

Take a scrap of color you want matched and put it on a scrap of balsa. Take it to your auto paint store and have them mix you some up. I have never had a can of Factory paint match the monokote or ultracote. I have never missed with the auto paint and it works as well as any paint by chevron or top flight.

Thanks for the replys guys, but I refuse to spend huge amounts of money to paint a cowl.
I can use HD rustoleum white or white spray appliance epoxy for that matter but the ultracoat cans are were only around 5 to 6 bucks each. surely some hobby shop out there still has a few cans on the shelf.

Hey dude, I'll never use this can you gave me and it feels like half a can or so of midnight blue. It's yours if you want it back...
