With exactly 100 days left until the 2nd Internet Fly-In we'd like to get an idea of just how many pilots were going to have attend this years event.
This year the event will be held in Edinburgh, IN (about 25 miles south of Indy) and it will be hosted by the Johnson County RC Flyer's Club. They offer a 600 foot paved runway, plenty of open air to fly and on site camping and RV hookups.
This event is open flying and we expect to see everything from small electrics to giant scale and even helicopters. Basically if it flys bring it.
The event is AMA sanctioned and there will be a large raffle with prizes being donated by the events sponsors, something we are working on now. There will also be free lunch for all registered pilots.
This is a two day event with free camping on site. If you need RV hookups there is a small fee with the park and you must make reservations with them. There is also a list of area hotels on the website.
We have a website available at http://www.internetflyin.com with information like driving directions, hotel information, etc.
We are shooting around the idea of having a large BBQ on Saturday night but this is unconfirmed yet.
If you have any questions, ideas, etc just ask...
So... are you gonna join us?

It is on my way to Indianapolis from Atlanta so I will be there. I have flown once at that field and like it. The runway scares me a little but other than that, it is good.

The last time I was there there was a slight hill on the north end of the runway. It has been a while and probably fixed but knowing me, I will hit it.
Mac Hodges has a full scale airport that we fly off and last year, I had a flame out and landed in his wifes vegetable garden!

You bet I will be there, as it is the most layed back, fun event that I have ever attended. the flying is great but what is the most fun is finally getting to meet the guys that we have been talking with on line at different RC sites. You don't want to miss this one, even if you have to drive quite a ways, because it will be worth it. See ya there.......

I'd like too but unsure at this time... 2 22.22%
I mentioned it to the wife....She agrees that we will have to wait to check funding for the trip.
Itll be near the top of the Huney Do List for sure.

Been there and doing it again
I made the trip last year to Bloomington and I will be making the trip to Indy this year. I will second that this is the best and most laid back fly in I have ever attended. Good guys/gals all the way around.

Hey wreckrman2, we're an unofficial club, just a bunch of people that fly out of Salem, IN, about 1 1/2 hours from Indy, I'd like to make it up there and I'm sure a bunch of other people I fly with would go to it for a day.

I'll be canoe camping that weekend, so I'll have to pass. Oh well, you don't need us "grumpy old men with our grumpy old planes" hanging around, right? Have fun!!

We're there!
My wife immediately put in on the calendar when it was mentioned.
I'll bring the "drainpipe" that WGEFFON rapped out yesterday for the tie the knot "show".
Look forward to meeting all of you.

As for things to do other than flying... this event is location in the Johnson County Park which takes up about 6000 acres. This is a HUGE park with everything from camping to fishing to playgrounds and more. If you were to bring your family there should be more than enough to keep the kids busy for the day.
Also there is a big waterpark in Edinburgh that the ladies could take the kids and enjoy an afternoon in the sun and water.

As for the ladies there is a big outlet mall in Edinburgh.

Basically there is enough to do here that you could talk the wife into a weekend getaway and bring the whole family if you want too.

Events....
This is primary an Open Flying event so no special events will be planned that will stop anyone from flying that wants to fly however when/if the flying slows down I am sure we can find something fun to get airplanes back in the sky.
Our in flight movie, "Tie the Knot" will defiantly be one of the wacky things we will do if we have time and the airspace but we won't take away time from someone that want's to fly.
