Default Ukie?

Hi from frozen North Dakota,
My flying partner and I are going to give U-Control a try this spring. He is an advanced RC pilot and I am probably an accomplished beginner. Anyone have thoughts, suggestions or opinions???? Thanks, Mike Propeck

You will have a ball. U/C is awesome fun. I'd recommend starting with a .15 size plane that is capable of aerobatics. You won't have any problems learning to fly U/C, and you will get into loops and such very quickly.

Once you get some good level laps in try a few loops, down wind of course. After you feel comfortable doing loops try some figure eights. Keep practicing figure 8's until you've got them down pretty good and then start stretching out the figure 8's until you're flying inverted. Once you can fly inverted you only need to fly half the circle to do all your aerobatics. No more going round & round.

Off set the engine a few degrees to the right to keep the lines tight. Use stainless steel lines and an adjustable handle.

I flew control line for about 10 years and had a great time with my friends. Got into slow combat for a few years and took home a few trophies. Hope you can still find some control line kits on the market. One of my favorites was the Sterling Cosmic Wind. Strong airplane. Have some fun!!!

For lots of good stuff, look here:

He has links to lots of other sites, too. Many of us are still flying ukie along with RC.

The important thing is to be safe and have fun! Good luck, Dzl
