Default little downtime at RCU

We had a hiccup last night during our backup where the drive wrote out to capacity 100% and left no room for any more data. Our datafile is about 3GB now and with several iterations of it backed up on hand we maxed out one of the drives. I had to spend the morning repairing the data files and cleaning up the drive for space and removing some of the extra backups to free space. It is not an emergency issue but the upgrade to new servers with much larger drives will eliminate this happening again for quite some time.

Silver lining is that NO data was lost or corrupted in the process

Time for a vacation soon...I should have caught this one in advance

The system may be a little slow for the next 2-4 hours while I rebuild our search index. It is a few hundred MB so it will take awhile but this will make the index pristine and fast when done. Figured now was a good time to do it as any...

Marc, great work. Thanks for your time in keeping this addiction...err...I mean Forum in top notch shape.

I sat down with my coffee this morning to read the Forum like I always do. I didn't know what to do when I couldn't get on. So I turned on this box that my wife calls a 'TV'.

This morning, with coffee in hand in my PJ's, (got visual?)
I had an OMIGAWD moment....Where's my RCU???

Sadly, I then had to peruse the remaining online rc websites. With the exception of EZone, the remaining sites are clearly dismal, devoid of any worthy recent indepth modeling discussions, and user input.

There are several that are very friendly, but lack posting pertaining to modeling. I don't mind reading the comradie, I even enjoy seeing members I recognize from RCU at other sites, letting out more personal information a bit.

I'm glad that they are out there, (the other rc sites) as it creates healthy competition, as well as a glaring comparison on just how good we have it here.

Thanks to all who make RCU the standard by which all other rc sites can be judged.

Just bear with the speed maybe until at least midnight...I'm reindexing 600,000 posts into a fresh index which is very CPU intensive so I'm stealing some CPU cycles from you guys to finish the task...It should be complete between 9PM and 12AM at it's current rate.

Also I have all the good numbers for our new (additional) servers and we will soon migrate to a faster overall hardware platform.
