Boy, if you are going to orlando, call Bob Fierenzi (sp I am sure). He flies at deland which is just north of Sanford. They fly the coolest stuff there. He has some of the best jets. He is the yellow aircraft dealer. I am sure you can find his ads in RCM or others.

Loops,

Where are you staying? The Palomar RC Flyers field is in North San Diego County off of the I-15. Let me know where you'll be and I'll give you an idea of how far away you are. There is also clubs down south and out east, but I'm not sure where they are, but I'm sure someone will chime in. Maybe change your thread title to include San Diego.

Default Thanks MHawker

We are staying near Old Town just off I-5, near Lindbergh Field.

I would change my subject to read San Diego, but don't know how.

Thanks for your help. I love this forum.

Loopsnut,
Mike has the right idea. Palomar Flyers is the neatest field around. You can find someone there every morning. Usually about 10 guys during the week and 30 or so on the weekend. The gate is locked to non members during the week, so check the website to get info. (palomarrcflyers.org) Go north on 15 about 35 minutes, turn east on 76, make the first left and you are there. We fly right next to the I15.

The Palomar Flyers are pretty squared away- Real busy tho-

I fly at the Weedwackers club in Lakeside.... Good people!

Lakeside is about 35-40 minutes from Old Town.

**** No matter what you decide, GO TO OLD TOWN MEXICAN CAFE***

The best Mex. food around!

As I mentioned in my e-mail to you, the non-sanctioned rouge site in Poway may be the best bet, especially if you're looking to head out mid morning. E-mail me for specifics.

Default Chula Vista

Take I-5 south to Dairy Mart Road. half mile on L/H side is the field. What is neat is that there is an Outlet shoping center 5 minutes away .

Win, win

Good people but:

Where is the frequency board?

Plus the fact that Weedwackers is right down the street-

Default Chollas Park

I am flying at Chollas park tomorrow March 9th. If you want to meet me at the field I'll let you fly there as my guest (bring the AMA card!)

Chollas is a nice field, and the guys that go out there are pretty cool. THe club isnt that 'active' with fun flies or anything like that but it is a centrally located field within 15 minutes or so of old town.

Email me if you want directions!

Loops...You MUST hit Casa de Pico in the Bazarr Del Mundo in old town...There is usually a line but it is WELL worth it!!! Plus, you can get the best fresh corn tortillas while you wait in line. Check out this link for info on the restaurant:

www.bazaardelmundo.com/dining/pico.html

MHawker...Mike...I went out to the Poway site when I was down at Christmas but didn't get a chance to meet you. I will be down again in about a week (not sure the plane will make the trip this time) and I will be down again in April (I'm REALLY going to try to get my new "previously flown" Worlds Chipmunk in the car for that trip).

Have fun in San Diego Loops...it REALLY is America's Finest City!!!

Loops....Also...If you are looking for a good salad, Trophy's Bar and Grill in Mission Valley has probably the best Cobb Salad I've ever had. Another place to hit if you like Sea Food is Point Loma SeaFood in Point Loma (only about half to one mile west of the Airport. Here is their web site: http://www.plsf.com/freshfish.html). Their are many great places to eat in the Gas Lamp Quarter of Downtown...Dick's Last Resort is pretty good and entertaining (the wauers and waitresses are rude and insulting(on purpose)...but VERY FUNNY!!). Cafe Sevilla offers some OUTSTANDING Spanish food (not mexican...totally different...from Spain)...Also, for some good old BBQ...Try the Kansas City BBQ between the Gas Lamp Quarter and the Convention Center...Scene's from Top Gun were shot here...and the BBQ ig pretty good too. All of the places I have listed for you are within minutes of where you are staying and very easy to get to. I will PM this same infor to you...hopefully you will get it in time for your trip.

Default Thanks to everyone!!!

Thanks to everyone for the great info.....I appreciate everything, especiallly the dining tips. I'm sitting in El Centro right now, won't be in San Diego until Tuesday, probably staying thru Sunday.

I just spoke with my daughter and she said there was a field near Sea World right close to Mission Bay. Is this the Palomar location or is is it something else?

I'll be computerless after Tuesday.

Thanks again to everyone.

Default Mission Bay

I do believe the field down there by Mission Bay is only for electrics.

Not 100% sure though
