Default ys 140 sig extra 300xs help!

hi out there,

i have a sig extra 300xs and i had a saito 150 on it turning a 16x8 apc or a 17x6 apc with decent power but nothing much vertical, i assume these props are to small for a ys 140fz? i got one just broken in about 2 gallons through it, i know this motor should be more powerful than the saito 150 but not sure what prop to use with this plane and the ys 140fz, wieght is about 13 lb's.
thought about the saito 180 but many people said the 140 was just as strong if not stronger on 20/20 fuel. i have heard a bigger diameter prop like a 18 over 17 is better for vertical performance and no so much pitch, i'am not trying to hover but want better vertical, but still enough speed for a knife edge. please help w/ prop size 18x6 or 17x8 etc. am i thinking right here? did i pick the right motor for what i'am trying to do? any insight would be helpful. p.s. not trying to start a ys vs saito argument i like both motors a lot.

thanks, brad

First welcome to RCU but FYI this is the full size aircraft forum. You will be better asking this question in the glo engine forum.

Full size? In any case, 17x8 should be fine. 17x6 is definitely too small for the 140. I was assuming APC. You want to run it in the 8500 range, give or take. Any prop that runs in that range will be ok.

Edit for addition.
