Default Palm Pilot Apps

Has anyone used a palm pilot to assist in their radio control model airplane work? Have you found any software?

Default palm apps

Hello sswagerty,

I've used a spread sheet app for the palm the last few times I've gone to R/C auctions. I think the app is called QuickSheet. The really cool thing is that it interfaces with MS Excel so you can write the spreadsheet on your desktop, then the next time you sync, it's there on the palm.

My spreadsheet works like this...

I column A is where I write down the things I want to sell. Column B is the actual sale price filled in as the auction commences. Column C is where I put things I've purchased and column D is the purchase price. Obviously I know before the auction how many items I want to sell so that is how many rows I have for the sale-side of the spread sheet. I rarely buy more than I sell so the purchase side of the sheet doesn't take up much room for me.

In cells below my item list I have formulas that separately sum the total of each column (sales and purchases). Another cell calculates the sale commission on the total sales. At the auctions I've been to, the commission (hosting club fee) is between 10% and 15% of the sale price. Another cell calculates sales tax on my purchases. One more cell reconciles purchases against sales and provides a balance.

It is really quite handy!

I don't know about any of those kinds of things that would be usable on the Palm. It sounds interesting though!

I've used a freeware logbook. I can't recall the URL at the moment, but you could find it using one of the Palm software search engines.

Something a bit more complex wouldn't be too hard to create with the various database programs out there, if you wanted to keep and compare different radio setups and such.

I was thinking more in terms of downloading the radio directly to the palm pilot through a modified serial cable. This would require more skills than I have, but would be cool!
