I've been away from www.rconline.com for a few years; it looks *nothing* like it used to. It even appears that Edward Walker is no longer running it??!

Can somebody bring me up to speed regarding the evolution of this site since, say, mid-1999?

Bottom line, Kranitz Enterprises now owns it. The BB software is very nice, and the swap shop is doing very well. There is a chat, but it isn't very active right now. It's still the height of the flying season, so it should start booming in a month or so. The board itself is very active. The administration is COMPLETELY different from the old RCO. Welcome back!!

Old RCOnline was runing into an overload of database info vs software capability, pluss more users than the system could handle. Admin attempted a move to a different server and new software, which caused more problems than it solved... then another attempt to fix, and the system suddenly had a pop-up ad with every mouse click. Userbase dropped to practically nil.

RCAirport sprang up. Started to get some userbase and bought out RCOnline and incorporated the old name with the new system. (you'll note the URL at top of sctreen now has "rcairport" in it.

The new management seems to be going quite well. Hopefully it will stay this way. (it ain't broke... don't fix it.)

Thanks to everyone for bringing me up to speed.

I think I stopped coming around here during the "pop-up ad at every click phase", but didn't remember that until it was mentioned here. It's nice to get my brain goosed every now and again.

The place looks pretty cool, that's for sure. I'll be busy learning the new system for quite a while probably, but it looks to be fun.
