Default Moving to Reno, NV

Hi,

Hey, I am going to be moving to Reno, Nv within 45 days. I was wondering what clubs, and flying sites are available.

I am looking forward to meeting new friends, to share this great hobby with.

Thanks, Rick

The Reno Radio Control club is a nice place to fly. The runway is paved 75feet by 650 feet or so. Nice facility out in hungary valley away from anybody to bother you. Stop in at Hobbies of Reno on East Moana or google Reno Radio Control club and check it out. We fly pretty much year round but sometimes alittle chilly early mornings.

Husker; I am a member of the Reno R/C Club. I looked up your profile and noticed you didn't list a club affiliation, and yet recomended our field. Do you fly there without belonging to the club? Mac

RCFLY52 - I don't think I have any new Clubs to offer that the guys haven't already mentioned. I do have Google Earth file though that has the center of each Clubs runway marked so if you wanted to see what they look like or just need directions it might help you a little bit. Good look in Reno. Here is the link to my GE RC File - [link=http://bbs.keyhole.com/ubb/showthreaded.php/Cat/0/Number/402368/page/]2000+ Remote Control (RC) Airplane Clubs & Runways[/link]

R/C Pilot; I liked Reno from the start. My wife hated it, but, if you make it a year here, you will love it. I do not like the growth we have had though. But, difference's in opinion is what makes the world go around. Be boring if we all liked the same things. Mac

It's all just brown. Bunch of 1-story strip shopping malls in a brown valley. The only big buildings in town are the banks and casinos. Nothing to do but gamble and visit the brothels--neither of which appeals to me. Who can afford to do anything in Tahoe? It's a wealthy resort town--just like Vail.

I did like the airfields. I visited the one in Carson City and also Sparks airfield.

Just my opinion. Glad you like it.

Hey thanks husker,

I have been to Reno several times for business, and prior to that just passing through. I am originally from central Idaho. I do well in temperate climates bearing on the cold side. I have lived in Las Vegas for 9 years, long enough to know I don't do well in large cities. Reno is almost too big for me, but I will do well there.

I am just a flyer with mediocre models. I like flying things! Heck after flying in a dry lake for 8 years, it will take me 5 months to get my models presentable to hard surface runway people.LOL.

Looking forward to meeting you all. You may not see my face until.... March or April 2008, I have a lot of other things to get done in the mean time!

Thanks for the info, and I will be meeting you all soon.

Rick
