I tried this in the electric forum without success. I'll try here.

My father wants to learn to fly R/C. I live in Texas and he lives in Santa Maria California. I'm thinking of buying him a Hobby Zone Super Cub for Christmas. The problem is I'm not sure if his is committed enough to join a club and the AMA at this time, it's about $150.00 for both.

I'm looking for a park flyer type modeler that wouldn't mind helping me out by lending a hand to my dad to get him started. You don't have to be an instructor, just someone to help get the plane up and trimmed. If you can help avert a crash, great. If not no big deal.

Thanks for your response and generous offer. I see that you live about a 2 hr drive from Santa Maria. I certainly can't expect you to drive to Santa Maria and I'm not sure my dad will drive to Bakersfield. I'll wait till after Christmas and see what he says. I'll drop you a message or Email after I talk to him.

I live in Visalia, but I'm in the Paso Robles area often. I will be there the last weekend in Jan., sometime in the middle of Feb., and again in the middle of March. I'm a club instructor and would glad to help if I can.
