I have built them before
Also hilarious is tying a string around a leg and watching it fly around, I nearly crapped my pants!!!

somewhere i have the full web page, but what got me really laughing was the forum, people talking about 8 "engined" bombers and fireant paratroopers, then theres the others who say its cruel and the great slagging matches that come from it.

I remember seeing a news report on TV about this. Flies were glued to very small, cellaphane (or something similar) covered gliders. They actually flew around in a lab. Some of the flies were actually very good at navigating around. I saw the report years ago; but I remember seeing one of the researchers "refuel" one of his "engines" with sugar water!

I just took a closer look at the article. Those flies would actually be carrying that match plane. In the report I saw, the gliders actually could produce lift. You could tell that the flies were using energy management to keep them aloft and control them. I wish I could remember where I saw it. All I remember is that it was a nightly news report on one of the alphabet channels.
