The home page of RCU has a blurb that on Jan 31 Hobbico is going to make a "Huge" announcement at their booth........

Hmmm.... "Huge" begins with the letter "H", too. Corporate merger as a booth announcement? Why not?

I was also wondering about this. Here is some more fuel for the fire....I have attended the WRAM show for the past 6 years and never remember Horizon or H9 being there, however; Hobbico and their represented manufacturers have always shown up, i.e. GP, OS, Futaba, Top Flight, etc. All of a sudden, Horizon and H9 are showing up on the list for the WRAM show this year. Does that mean that H9/Horizon will be part of Hobbico moving forward???? Would not suprise me. I have no connections - just guessing like everyone else.

MinnFlyer, you are probably correct. The way Hobbico is growing though, I feel it may very well be another acquisition of some sort. But as I said earlier, I'm just guessing. We'll just have to wait until Thursday to find out.

Hobbico and Horizon are the two biggest players in the industry. If they were going to merge - no mater HOW much they tried to keep it a secret - there would have been SOME kind of indication that something HUGE was in the air.

My guess is they are going to announce a new product, or product line, or an acquisition of another smaller company. Certainly not a merger with their largest competitor

Well, it seems to be the season for mergers, these were just announced over on the stock exchange so maybe there is something to the rumor:

Here are the just announced mergers so that you can get in on the ground floor and make some BIG bucks:

1.) Hale Business Systems, Mary Kay Cosmetics, Fuller Brush, and W. R. Grace Co. will merge and become: Hale, Mary, Fuller, Grace.

2.) PolygramRecords, Warner Bros., and ZestaCrackers join forces and become:
Poly, Warner Cracker.

3.) 3M will merge with Goodyear and become: MMMGood.

4. ZippoManufacturing, AudiMotors, Dofasco, and Dakota Mining will merge and become:
ZipAudiDoDa

5. FedEx is expected to join its competitor, UPS, and become:
FedUP.

6. Fairchild Electronics and Honeywell Computers will become: Fairwell Honeychild.

7. Grey Poupon and Docker Pants are expected to become:
PouponPants.

8. Knotts Berry Farm and the National Organization of Women will become:

P51B, LOL - you made my afternoon. Perhaps we should start a contest and whomever guesses correctly gets some stock in the new newly acquired company or a free kit. I sure would like a new Top Flight, I mean Skyshark Dauntless kit in a scaled up 60 size package.

Microsoft did actually invest in Apple years ago to keep them from going under.
