RE: turbo prop aerobatic plane (it flies!!!!!)
hi robert,
yes, my turbo cap is still alive.
in the meantime we tested different props, made from carbon fibre and/or wood. in addition to this a few turbine internal updates arrived. all in all the increase of power output is minor, particular because in reving up the prop to higher rpms, the pitch prop mechanism comes to its limits. centrifugal forces are exploding as well as much more power of the pitch servo is demanded.
i am waiting till anyone outthere will try to use a fully variable pitch prop on his turbo plane. hey, sandor, would you be so kind to go this way? i am standing alone, there are some minor problems to be sorted out, and believe me, the full adjustable pitch prop offers a large range of possibilities, either for short "on the spot" landings or impressive aerobatics.
when i get a call from PJW, that there are good news i.g. more revs, more power, i will try again torque rolling the plane, my last goal for this plane.
in the meantime i practice TR with my Rhapsody, Funtana or Shochflyer

RE: turbo prop aerobatic plane (it flies!!!!!)
price for the pitch prop: please send an email to [email protected]
there are two things to mention:
# have you thought of the fact, that the pitch prop will need a completely different ECU (cause of the accurate rev alterations)?
# the revs that you are going on your unit will probably make explode the pitch prop unit. so you will be something like a pioneer or developer!
your pilatus project is impressive, wow!

our unit uses 2 ecu,s one is for engine one is for powerturbine rpm,s
i have got a perfectly working rev control i can set it up to run from 1000 rpm,s to 12000 rpm,s
so if i would set the unit to 8000 rpm,s i would be ok in all cases

Hi i would like to know how much are you charging for this unit? (pitch prop)
I have got a wren engine it has a shaft of 6mm so it can fit now any prop
The max torque is about at 6500-7000 rpm on the shaft
It is for a pilatus pc-6 spinner would be 90-95mm
Props I use vary from 22x10 up to 26x10
The best performance I have at 22x12 mentz prop 8000 rpm,s

Hello,
sorry our prop-unit is only with an PJ-W-R or Limited Edition Turbine obtainable.
Because it is made for this engine.

RE: turbo prop aerobatic plane (it flies!!!!!)
pfff i give allready up for this pitch prop unit
i think our germans are better then your germans (quote:the right stuff)
i flew the pilatus yesterday take off weight was 21 kilo,s (about 3 liters of fuel included) so i guess we where a little
wrong on the weight
it needed about 10 meters (33feet) and went airborne without flaps
extremely fast acceleration
landing was impressive , about 10% flaps it was a little fast but we landed within 90 meters
i guess we do it reversed since the original needs less space to land then actualy taking off
this was just the first flight , so we need to get used to the plane and next time keep the rpm,s up and pull
more flaps
we just wanted to be safe since we want to fly this pilatus at lots of event,s this year in germany , belgium , and the netherlands
anyway we will fly it again soon and i will make a video

RE: turbo prop aerobatic plane (it flies!!!!!)
congrats to your maiden flight.
pitch prop: the unit we use will not withstand 8000rpms. the centrifugal forces will destroy the mechanism, bearings, junction between blade and bladeholders. the risk of injuries should not be neglected.
seems that there will be a "do it yourself prop unit" way only for you. see my photos and drawings in my previous posts.
how about that?
to do this is no miracle. all it needs is a simple mill and lathe, thats all.

i dont own a lathe or mill
i service and build turbines , i own a impressive balancing machine (schenk computerised)
a spot welder to weld any metal down to 0.075
i have the biggest festo collection fuel cluncks etc etc
i sell turbines anything from 5 to 16+ kilo,s
however i am to stupid to make myself a pitch control unit
simply i dont have the time to invest in it , and i am not a metal man
thrust pipe,s i can make they even give more thrust then the turbine itself!
so i am better of paying someone to sell this item to me
but i doubt if anyone could build one that can handle the power of the wren turboprop
for now we got used to the what you call it turbine spool up time
but as i sayd in the past the real power is within 75-100% turbine power
this means it is less then a second to handle this power
so we did mentioned to hang on the prop for about 20 seconds
the real problem is we try it at to much altitude to be safe
so hearing the turbine and feeling the power on the stick is a problem
but we fly the raven now for almost the 3rd season
i has crashed , flamed out etc etc
after this time we finaly found the best setup the best fuel system around
and i have trown out the so called u.a.t
this thing even caused a flame out
did you ever figure out what the uat is made of?
i just found out from a friend of mine , and as always : why didnt i think of this?

So basicly you are telling me:
Dear sandor
Because you have a wren engine you cant have our pitch controlled prop
So eather you buy a whole unit , or leave us alone we got work to do.
Would that be accurate??

RE: turbo prop aerobatic plane (it flies!!!!!)
i can follow all of your arguments. all is clear.
one thing i want to mention: the hard way to go for a variable pitch prop is worth all the time and money you spent. it opens an enormous range of new perspectives.
seems that you need to cooperate with a "metal man".
PJW:
they know, that this unit is designed for approx 6000rpm (according to the gear used in the PJW), and it is suspected that it will fail at much more rpms. thats why they do not sell it for your purpose (safety reasons and it will safe your money). i think, when i would ask peter jak, it would not be a great problem to get one of this variable PP (for you). but i think too, this unit is not adequate for your motor. you need a complete new design, matched and fitted to your own demands.

RE: turbo prop aerobatic plane (it flies!!!!!)
I am very new to this site so please bear with me if I have mentioned something that has already been said.
First off you plane is beautiful!!!! Very nice paint scheme!!! And an R/C turbo prop is by far the coolest thing I have seen in our hobby having been involved with R/C planes for the last 16 years. Great Job!!!
Second. I was wondering whether you have gotten the problem solved with the hovering? If not I had a suggestion. People have told me that if a plane has plenty of forward speed and not enough vertical performance you need to increase the diameter and decrease the pitch. In other words you should increase the diameter of your prop and when you go vertical increase the prop speed and decrease the pitch? Full scale planes use the lower pitch settings for the most thrust on take off and then use higher pitch and lower RPM's for cruising. I don't know if this is at all possible with you application or not but I thought I would throw that at you and see what you think.

Hey Mec... Here is a VPP setup for 10hp...
it looks more than strong for any turbo-prop
