RCuniverse history in the making
I have searched for something in the way of how RCuniverse came to be, but was unable to find anything, Is there a writeup anywhere of how this site came to be and if not would it be possible to have something written up? I would also like to know how the moderators were chosen and a little about there back grounds, how does one become a moderator? Any and all information relating to this would be greatly appreciated.

RCUniverse.com was started by Marc Vigod after getting frustrated with RCOnline's speed. He wanted a place to go where his questions could be answered, but didn't want to wait for RCO's servers anymore. Having a background in programming, he had the necessary tools to set it up right and proceeded to build RCU to what it is today with help from the members and moderators. With many new forums starting around the same time, RCUniverse seemed to rise to the top pretty quickly as a result of our dedication and mission. We had the tools the members wanted, the speed they deserved and expected, and the willingness to listen and implement many of the members suggestions. This has lead us to where we are today.
We've had many moderators come and go since Dec. 2001, and the criteria has pretty much been the same since day one. We want people who are patient, even tempered, have knowledge about the categories they moderate, and want to contribute their free time to help provide the best place to buy, sell, and discuss R/C. Some moderators have been hand picked by watching how they conduct themselves in the forums. Others have submitted their name when we solicited help via a site wide announcement.
We've worked hard to make RCU what it is, have assembled a dynamite team of moderators, and have tremendous respect for the members who frequent our little corner of the online world. If you think the first year and a half of RCU was fun, wait till you see what we have in store for you in the rest of year two and beyond. Prepare to be amazed!

In the beginning, there was a void.
And ViGod said, "Let us fill the void".
And the void was filled by ViGod with RCUniverse, and ViGod saw that it was good.
ViGod then divided the Universe into seperate Forums.
And people came to the site, and they too saw that it was good.
And they told the many, and too, so the many came, and saw that it was good.
And several of them hadeth bequest upon them the role of Moderator.
And soon, the multitude began to arrive. And ViGod created yet more Forums for them, so that the multitude could be with their own kind.
Then Satan showed up in the form of a Helicopter...
I better stop now while I'm ahead

Great! thanks plane insane and Minnflyer.
Perhaps what was typed here should be placed in an area that is easily accessed so it don't get buried for all to see. Something like a history of RC, or even keep this thread up on top.

And minor plug here.. You can meet many of the people you are
talking to on here and other boards at the I-Net flying in
Edenburg IND which is just south of INDY this June,6/8 ...
The last I-Net in Sept was a major blast and as there are a
lot more who know of this one it should be even better..
If there is a type of plane that exist, it should be there.. Big,
small, pretty, ugly, and mine, pretty ugly ..
Chille dinner Fri and no landing fee, paved runway.. Family affair..
So bring the spouse and offsprings, human or not, and have a
blast...

Robby is the Non-human offspring! LOL
Like Robby said last years was a blast so we had to do it again... one thing Robby didn't mention is that we have gathered almost 50 items from sponsors to raffle off during the event. These items range from a radio to kits, arfs, gift certificates, wingbags and much more... Basically if it flys bring it and have fun. There aren't any limitations on what you can and can't fly.
Rcuniverse is even a sponsor this year so special thanks to Marc for that.

Hey, get the wife in the hobby and let her figure out how to put one of these things together. She would see the value of this forum!
