Don, any chance of bringing back the widow. Would you happen to have a kit laying around you would like to sell?

May the shavings from a thousand strands of fiberglass find their way to the inner lining of your underwear.

Don came out with this Black Widow which was all black and had a spider on the tail this was the next level of this FM. Here is a Picture of the one I had the only diffrence is I put a bubble type cockpit on it vers the pointed kind the FM had.

I don't believe that was Don's creation. Another club member took certain aspects of the Flying Machine did his own things to it and sold a few. It was no Flying Machine. Don, if you see this Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think you know who I'm referencing. All the best.

Jerry you are right. Bud Young did a spin off using the Flying Machines plans and called it the Black Widow. I remember flying the aircraft it flew good and did great spins but did not perfom like the Flying Machine.

That's what I thought. Hopefully we can al get together one of these days. Both Jim and I are flying at the Orlando RC Association. When we put the two Flying Machines in the air together it's always a good show. Usually one of us goes home with a garbage bag of airplane parts... I've been pretty lucky so far... can't say that for Jim Though. Take care Don.

Wow I thought this was your creation, When I built mine in the late 80's, I was told it was yours by club members at the Cloud Climbers in Ocala Florida. Well now I know...

The Widow in my opinion had less aerobatic like performance but it was a bit faster than the FM. It's snaps were no where near at tight as the FM but it would do the death dive like no other.

It's been nearly 2 weeks since the last update by Condor and Don.

Any news on the progress of the Flying Machine ARFs?

Condor;

I want to thank you for all the updates. First of all, it makes the wait for the ARF's a tad more bearable...but it also makes a few of us feel like we are, somehow, in on the ground floor!

Just keep those updates coming, get us a container full of ARF's.......
and from some of us that have admired the Flying Machine since the 80's
.............WE SAY THANK-YOU!!

PLEASE !! just stop it. !! I'VE seen a heard enough !! I finally have to say something to END this ridiculous comparison. !!
A ( Hots )is nothing like a FLYING MACHINE which I WATCHED DON MUDDIMAN DESIGN way back in 1982 & 1983 while working at Martin Marietta, way BEFORE HOTS STOLE his basic shape, not the true design.!! How do I know all this for certain ?? Because I AM ROGER PURCELL ( THE KING OF SCREAM )!! WHO DON TAUGHT to fly just like he does and pushed me to the MAX until Iwas right on his butt. !! Nobody outdesigns the Flying Machine or theScream Machine planes. !! There wouldn't be a Scream Machine without Don Muddiman teaching me how to build way back in 1979. // From there I've changed my wing airfoil design several times to finally get a super thin wing which I'm nowflying on all my Electric Reapers. // I know for a fact you could buy either one of these two planestoday, hang them on a wall for another 20 years ,and they would still ruleat any Airfield. The only limitation to theFlying Machine is YOUR MIND !! So go fly a HOTS,thenfly a Flying Machine !! YOU'LL THROW THE HOTS AWAY. !! YES, I HAVE FLOWN BOTH, and I haveDESTROYEDTHE HOTSIN JUST a matter of SECONDS NOT MINUTES !!Hope this settles this once and for all. !! - The King of Scream - Roger P.

Hey,
I gotcha,  I'M FINE , HONEST !!  just so tired of this same old comparison going on for at least 28+ years. !!  GEZZZZ !!  Don and I worked together for 12+ years, he is like a brother to me and I to him. We have known each other 32 years, so I just felt like letting it air out so to  speak. !!  The trouble with these email messages, they don't show tone of voice or how you're really trying to express yourself, and I do come across pretty firm or sharp at times. Sorry about that. !! Roger Purcell - The King of Scream

Hi,
Please contact Don Muddiman at his WEB-SITE , he will answer all your questions. // I know this whole process of getting the Flying Machine to the ARF stage has been alot of work and stress on Don and all others involved. // Don deserves this more than anyone out there. !! It's about time some one finally will produce his Flying Machine. -rp

EH, I for one have always ruled in favor of the FM over the Hotts, The Hotts is a fun plane, I still have one. I perfer the FM, better design, speed etc. No argument from me. Check my RCU handle....kinda says it all?

Anyways no more debate [>:] The FM is the best thought out design EVER built

I have said it before and will say it again, no other design can compare, not in my life time or another.. [8D]
