RE: **Frank Tiano's Monster Planes***
Bob was more than "distracted" he was taken out by the wayward plane... literally knocked off of his feet and out of one shoe it hit him so hard...
Sad to see that bird crash.. it was beautiful

Geeze, somehow I got "Unsubscribed" to this thread and I've been too busy to check it.
It was great meeting all of you guys. I am in awe of some of your building skills - or rather, your PATIENCE to build like that! [X(]
I left on Sunday for West Palm to spend some time with my brother who is very ill, but things are looking good for him - he's even talking about buying a new radio, so he can't be too sick

It was a great event to fly at. A great runway and flying area for the pilots. I am getting something else ready for next year. just a litle bigger than my Mustang. Talking about my Mustang, did you guys get any flying shots of it. It was the 112 inch Mustang in british markings. i don't have any of it flying so if you find a couple could you post them
Thanks
Paul

dragoonpvw,
I did indeed get plenty of pictures of your Mustang from the event. I turned in my coverage from the event yesterday, but I don't know when they will have the article ready to post in the RCU Magazine. Pictures of your plane are included in the article. But here are a few of them for you until they post in the article.

Wonder if it's possible for other events to get "sticky" status as long as this one has. Or, is it because of the RCU coverage that took place on this event?

That's a true tragedy. I got to spend time with Jim at Monster Planes and felt really lucky to spend time with such an artist in our hobby. This hobby has lost a true treasure with Jim gone. My condolences to his family.

I had the pleasure of meeting Jim at Monster Planes...a real gentleman and a true modeller that always had time to talk to you.
I understand his wife was very ill and pretty much needed full time care.
My condolences to the family.
Dave.

There is a youtube video of the jet taking out the legs of the a10 pilot. I'll try to find it. The spotter was chatting on the phone instead of watching out for his pilot. It looked like the a10 pilot was gonna jump on the other jet for making him crash too.

The guy on the walkie-talkie is a member of the flightline crew(yellow shirt), not Bob's spotter.
It's easy to say in hindsight, but it could have been avoided,as the pilot of the jet that hit Bob did a couple of passes trying to shake the errant landing gear down, so everybody knew that there was a problem...the spotter should have picked up on that.
As a participant in the event, I, along with most people, were watching as the two A 10's were flying.
Thankfully, no one was injured.

Just wondering why this thread has remained a "Sticky".
Far more important issues and events don't receive this kind of attention.
Or, is this "sticky" situation bought and paid for?
