Fishing?, shorts?, "working" in the carport?....bah! We got snow, man....try that in Florida. Eat your heart out.

By the way, you are being a smart elic whether want to be one or not!

I'm sorry Skyraider. Somebody has to do this, it might as well be me !! You know it's not as easy as it sounds. Example; get up in the morning after the alarm goes off, oh, wait a minute, I don't use the alarm clock (it's in the dresser drawer under my long pants that I don't wear). Next thing is I have to fix my own breakfast. After that, I read the paper & have my coffee. Then I get to the heavy stuff. I HAVE TO DECIDE IF I want to go fishing ( I'll average 6 days a week fishing ) or maybe work on a airplane kit for while. I usually choose fishing. Although, then, I have to decide where to fish in Sarasota Bay. Let's see, do I want to fish along the beaches where the "bikinni girls" are , or just plain fish. And then, I have to decide when to come home !!!!! It gets worse, when I get home I have to clean the fish & then, oh, this is wearing me out, I have to eat those fresh fish along with a "cold one". I guess you get the idea. Yeah, believe me it is pure hell. I think I'm getting tired of this, I think I'll go look for a job first thing in the AM.. -NOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Nothing's changed for me.............my job is not affected by the economy per se, so I'm very fortunate. Sadly, most folks are not in the same boat as me and I feel for them.

Has anyone heard any rumors of any companies within the R/C industry which may go belly up due to the economy? I'd just like to know for consideration of any future models I may buy going "obsolete" unexpectedly. Please don't post any speculation or hearsay. I wouldn't want to be detrimental to anyone's sales. Thanks.

This morning's Federal GNP reports shows the far east forcasting 35% less exports the cutting production in half this next quarter. If our suppliers are relying on new inventory to stay competitive and profitable, then it's going to be an interesting four to six months.

I've been pretty fortunate so far. I work for an offshore air taxi (helicopter) company supplying the oil fields in the GoM (I'm not a Pilot). Although business has slacked off some, I'm hoping my years of experience and ability keeps me safe, although there were no raises this year for management.

I guess I'm "coping" just fine. Unemployment in my county is 5.3%. Houses are still going up in price as normal.

Haven't noticed a downturn myself at all. I took all my money out of the stock market last summer when it became clear who would win the next presidential election, nice timing on my part.

I'm retired from the military and work part-time at Home Depot to pay for the hobby. Since Nov '08 there have been no "lay offs" but all the part-timers are down to between 4 and 8 hours a week to help balance the books. Not buying anything big; just the small stuff needed to complete some of those kits and arfs I bought up before retiring. Do all my buying at the local hobby shop to help them out as much as possible. Sure hope they stay open...

Help them all you can, they're a dying breed. (LHS) I live in Indiana in summer, ( closest LHS 50 miles) Florida in winter ( closest is 12 miles) & he's only open 3 hrs a week. I wish someone would open one here in Fl. They say this area is shopping for 250,000 people, but who would open a new business in these times?

Luckily, it hasn't impacted me greatly as of yet. Although, some of the expenses that I was being compensated for are now being denied, but my head's still above water for the time being. I still frquent my LHS quite a bit and give him a fair share of my income.

"how am i coping"
My budget meeting with my wife was very similar to the house meeting and Obama's bill. My Republican wife see's my airplane stuff as wastefull spending and i'm lobbying hard that it's a stimulas package. After some give and take i managed to increase my budget and the bill passed in my house. Now on to the banking committee for approval.
One american doing what he can.

well my wife lost her big 6 figure job and she is in a line of work that is suffering the most (recruiting). it is going to get rough. i will have to increase my own hours to make up the difference. fortunately there's no slow down for my own business yet. since i build from plans or scratch build i can take as much time as i want on a project. that will help out on the hobby budget.

My GF was laid off last Tuesday (3/10) along with several other pilots, mechanics, and support personnel. She is (was) a helicopter pilot. Hopefully it's just temporary, but she's looking. All of us remaining are feeling pretty nervous though.
